A most informative tour that tells you a lot about the history of holland don't miss or you will be disappointed
Bring a jacket!! The winds can be strong and cold. Otherwise this was a great day. The towns we visited were charming. Hoorn was especially interesting and you had time to wander around by yourself. Our guide was wonderful, friendly and enthusiastic which made for a great day. Even got to try on real working wooden shoes!
Very informative. A good cross section of rural, small towns and or cities visited.
Marianne was an excellent tour guide. The air conditioner at the bus was very poor.
Great day trip. Lots to do including a steam train ride. had a great time
Wonderful experience. Timing is just nice to include all attractions - North Sea, WIndmill, Steam train, some time exploring the town within the day. The guide is knowledgeable, humourous and caring. He has a charming and soothing voice too.
Good trip, worth the time spent, well organized, the guide did a great job.
The tour was well structured and the guide very thorough in her coverage
Firstly the good
It met every expectation.....we saw the Dutch countryside, the fantastic Dykes, walked around small old Dutch communities, had an old fashioned steam train trip. We enjoyed a beer at a small Dutch pub. ..... We got a feel for the way the Dutch live. Our coach driver was excellent and the tour leader knowledgable.
The whole day out was carried out at a pleasant easy pace.
Now for the not so good.
The tour bus was not much better than a school bus back in Australia. Uncomfortable narrow seats and to close to the seat in front of us.
The tour was described as English speaking.....19 English speaking people aboard and one non English speaking Spannish person. The commentary by our tour leader was half English, half Spannish. It should have been all English with the Spannish lady being advised to take a different tour. There was no time for questions when we were travelling in the bus.
In all an excellent tour....one we would highly recommend. The downside we put up with.
I would have loved to see the whole dike and the villages to the east of the ploders.
The North Holland tour from Amsterdam was enjoyable. Normally, I'm not really a 'bus tour' type of person, but the tour guide made it quit interesting by using 3-4 different languages, including on the spot humor for us. Plus the views into Holland and returning were unlike what I've seen before in other countries.
Seeing the Grand Dyke could not really be appreciated due to its sheer size, but it was great being in the wide and experiencing it from the dyke itself.
The tours into the small Dutch towns was a definite plus, as well as the steam train ride. I want to go back now. I want to live there for a while ... just to absorb the ambience, the peace, the friendliness of the Dutch people. I'm so impressed, I've started learning Dutch ... so that when I return, I'll be able to communicate without using English (not that English is bad, but just to be more native sounding and involved in the culture and people).
This was a great day trip that enabled us to see much of the beautiful northern Holland country side, and worth doing. Not affecting what we saw on the trip, but affecting the quality of our tour was the cigarette smoking by the bus driver and tour guide. When we had free time to explore, the bus driver and tour guide would smoke on the bus, filling it with the smoke. When our tour guide took us on a walking tour around one of our stops, he 'lit up', as we were following him, we were in the cigarette smoke with no where really to escape. As my son is an asthmatic, it affected him that day and into the next. When approached, the tour operated showed very little interest in our concerns.
