Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Zaanse Schans Windmills, Marken and Volendam Half-Day Trip from Amsterdam. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
This was a wonderful tour. Guide was very informative. It covered the essence of Netherlands - windmills, cheese and clogs. Fascinating at Zaans Schans the working of the windmill. Volendam the cheese factory - choice was difficult and one could have your photo taken in local dress in a few shops on the waterfront. The fish was excellent here. Boat trip to Marken to lovely and seeing the clogs being made was very interesting. So whatever I dreamed of in Netherlands was covered in this tour, Unfortunately it was past tulip season, A definitely good trip
Very nice tour! Just what I wanted to see about Holland! Windmills and cheese and wooden shoes and fishing villages. Very informative guise. Loved talking to the man who ran the working windmill and the tour of it.
Great out guide! entertain us really well, provided more than enough history of Zaanse Schans.
Excellent English/Spanish guide made the entire experience even better. Inner-workings of windmills, cheese factory, and clog shoe makers were each very interesting w/ extra time in each made us wish we had done the full-day trip. Volendam was absolute highlight as well as meeting other travelers on the trip from Saudi Arabia and Spain. They were wonderful. In the words of Mark Twain, 'Travel is fatal to bigotry, prejudice, and narrow-mindedness.' More Americans should travel more often.
Great Day - loved the cheese process very interesting - and even more delicious. The boat trip was fun, and the windmills were picture postcard perfect.
Check Trip Advisor for our comments. We enjoyed our tour immensely! Couldn't have asked for a better team than driver Stef and Daniela ?. We'd highly recommend this tour!
This is a great way to get out of the city and see the Dutch countryside. A short ride to Zaanse Schans. The windmills were working. The tour of the mill was very interesting and provided by the owner of the business. The shops in this area were very nice a bit touristy but nice. The bakery museum was very cool. I would say that more time here would have been good. Volendam was wonderful and lunch was great. A wonderful seaside town. The boat ride to Marken was awesome. The wooden shoe factory was very interesting. This was a really nice place to visit. People were so very friendly, warm and welcoming. A very enjoyable day.
This tour was really nice. We did not have a lot of time at the places we went, but it was great to see everything outside of Amsterdam so easily. We especially liked Zaanse Schans and wished we had more time to spend there.
Exellent day out even though it poured rain all day but thats Amsterdam
The tour guides were adequate. What was great about this trip was how much they fit into 6.5 hours. I recommend 100. Office staff in Amsterdam were also extremely friendly and helpful.
Good tour guide and very good demonstrations at all 3 venues. Good to have extra information through earphones on coach as well. The only slight downside was the amount of free time given at the second stop as there was not enough time to actually eat anything in comfort as the cafes were all so busy. Really recommend this tour!!
Too many people in the double decker bus and one guide only, not much of personal touch.
Over all the tour was worth going except for the above.
I booked this tour after reading the reviews from other tourist in Viator and I must say wasn't let down . It was well worth the money and time spent. This tour was the first thing on our itinerary as we landed in Amsterdam and we didnt get time to leave our luggage first, however the Lindberg travel agent was kind enough to offer to keep our stuff, highly appreciated that. The bus ride was comfortable and our guide gave explanation in both english and spanish. we also had quite an entertaining bus driver : I liked how the tour was paced giving sufficient time though not enough at various stops to make it an efficient half day out trip. Loved the cheese tasting, food by the harbour, strolling through lovely village of Zaanse Schans, overall highly recommended tour, would love to come back for the Tulip seasons.
This is a great tour for those who have limited time. We were able to see many different things within the day. The timing was good and the logistics were well executed. The guide was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves and I highly recommend it!
Great half day trip. You see a lot in a short time. I would recommend it to anyone.
Would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a part day out of Amsterdam.
My family of 6 went together for this day trip which was nicely timed and you had enough time and space to explore the areas you were taken to see. You got to try some great cheeses at the cheese museum and taken to Maarken by boat where you could have lunch we found a poffertjes stand dutch pancakes and they were delicious. Also, you get to see how clogs are made and get to try some on and buy some if you desire. Finally the working windmills in Zaanse Schans were very neat to see and learn about. Overall a great half day trip, well worth it!
It's a great short trip away from the city. Everything went smooth from start of the tour to finish. Our guide was amazing, even though there are a few people who doesnt seem to care to be right on time, he was still very patient and all smiling. The rest of the staff are also extremely friendly. The trip also is magnificent, you get to see the nearby Dutch countryside of Marken and Volendam. For the money we've spent its well worth the trip, even for a half day. I just wished we've had more time to explore by ourselves, nevertheless tour is still amazing!
Without doubt one of the best sightseeing tours I have even done. Despite some, at times, inclement weather, the trip was magical, a great mix of scenery and activity.. Highly recommended
Stunning tour with wonderful guides! Definitely a must do. The extra hour in the tour that departs at 12 noon is a very good idea and gives you time to enjoy the places without being rushed.
Excellent tour... Learned a lot about wind mills, cheese making and clogs. The ride on a bus was comfortable, every thing was on time. Walking through beautiful/tiny towns/villages to our point of interests was fun and very interesting! The boat ride was a bonus! My daughter discovered a beer that she loves and we are trying to find it in the US. Too bad that we missed the Tulips season. I am sure it's beautiful during Tulips blooming. One caution - don't have a waffle sandwich with Gelato when it's 90-100 degrees outside, then you'll be wearing the Gelato all over your clothing, which it's not easy to wash off.
