It was a wonderful trip. Just long enough, not too long. Tip: if you are a party of four or more, try to sit opposite each other, half the cool fish scene is on the other side, so cover your bases.
My boyfriend and I came to Aruba for the first time and wanted to explore the sea tour options. This tour was great for us as it was more on the affordable side and we got to see similar things that we believe we would have been able to see on a full submarine tour. The tour boat/submarine departed conveniently from the Palm Pier dock which was near the high rise hotels (walking distance) and since we were staying at the Marriott Surf Club it was just a 10min walk. The tour ran approx 2hrs and consisted of half the time on a boat ride above water and the other half on the semi-submarine ride which we got to see some of the deep water fishes, coral, and even a sunken ship! The tour guide was very friendly and funny and made the experience very entertaining for us. If you are looking for a nice leisurely water tour both above and below water this is the way to go!
This was a fun tour. The reef and sunken ship were cool. The tour now leaves from a different pier, so we walked a couple of blocks along the beach. I would definitely take this tour again.
Very Cool! My husband loves marine life, and he had a blast. Seeing the shipwreck with the sea critters was really interesting.
We were a bit skeptical after reading the comparison to the "full" submarine experience, but we can tell you without hesitation that we thoroughly enjoyed this Seaworld Explorer Semi-Submarine. The visibility could have been clearer over the coral reef, but that was due to weather conditions out of their control. Many large and beautiful fish came directly to the windows of the sub and the view of the German war ship was fantastic. This trip is worth the price -- in quality and the value you get for the price. Also great for anyone not sure if they want to be completely under water!
The submarine was very interesting and going over the wreck was fascinating! Didn't see as many fish as I would have liked to but all in all it was a good trip!
Interesting, however, hard to capture pictures. Definitely worth doing!
It was nice but not great, the crew was very friendly and this is the only boat tour that we could do with our 3 year old.
It was great. The tour folks were great. They pass over the ship at least four times, giving plenty of history and also explaining all of the marine life etc. Next time I will take the submarine version (goes actually into depth, not just sitting in the bottom of a boat with windows).
A very pleasant experience with a friendly guide. The reef was a bit of a disappointment but nothing you can do anything about. The cost was a big factor in choosing the semi-sub over the actual submersibles.
May 21, 2013, we book this tour through Viator and that is where my problems began. This site had the wrong location for the tour departure it was listed as Pelican Pier but it was actually De Palm Beach, which was quite a distance from Pelican which required us to take a $30 motor boat ride to the De Palm for 4 people in order for us to reach in time. Upon arrival I checked in at the store located at the top of the Pier, surprise! they wanted a copy of the voucher, which this site stated would not be necessary in I had my confirmation number. This caused a delay for me and the entire tour as they did not have a printer for me to print the vouchers. Luckily the Tour guide and Driver came into the store and rescued me from this undue stress while on vacation. I advise is go to your trip TripAdvisor at your resort and book threw them, my attempt to save time was a waste.. The Tour was fun, and The Antilles was amazing. You have to change boats twice as you r transported to the semi-submarine and back to the pier.
The experience was just okay. The water is murky so while you can see fish, photography is impossible.
The logistics between Viator and the local supplier needs a lot of streamlining. Had to go to three local offices before I could exchange my Viator voucher for a ticket. Much wasted time.
