What You Can Expect
Start your trip to Santorini with a pickup from your central Athens hotel in the early morning, and travel to Piraeus Port where your boat awaits. Board your ferry for the leisurely 8-hour crossing to Santorini, or upgrade to include a crossing by speedboat and arrive on the island in time for lunch.
Once docked at Santorini Port, travel to your 3- or 4-star hotel in either Fira or Kamari. Check in to your hotel, and then spend the rest of your day at leisure. If you upgraded to the high-speed crossing, check out one of the island’s waterfront tavernas for lunch, and then perhaps take a stroll around Oia, a picturesque village known for its white Cycladic buildings and blue-domed churches.
In the evening, catch the famous Santorini sunset, watching the skies change color over the island’s caldera (a half-submerged volcanic crater), and then check head to Fira. The island’s colorful capital is home to a collection of lively bars and tavernas offering Greek island specialties and international cuisine.
Overnight: 2-star superior or 3-star Alexandra Hotel Santorini, Syrigos Selini Hotel, Blue Sea Hotel and Studios or Estia Hotel; or 4-star Antinea Suites and Spa Hotel, Afroditi Venus Beach Hotel, Epavlis Hotel or Aegean Plaza Hotel on Santorini (Fira or Kamari towns)
Day 2: Santorini – Athens (B)
After breakfast, check out of your hotel, and then spend the morning and afternoon doing whatever you wish. Make the most of the Santorini sunshine by basking on one of the island’s volcanic beaches such as Perissa or Perivolos. Alternatively, pay a visit to the old port of Ormos for lunch at one of the quaint tavernas lining the bottom of the caldera’s cliffs. Access to the old port is tricky with some 600 stone steps, so take the cogwheel cable car instead and marvel at the sea views on the way.
The ferry crossing to Piraeus Port leaves mid-afternoon, so return to your hotel at the prearranged time for your transfer to Santorini Port. Embarkation for the speedboat crossing is in the early evening, leaving you with longer to enjoy the island before heading back to Athens.
On arrival at Piraeus Port, finish your overnight experience with a drop-off at your central Athens hotel.
Tour was amazing.
Everything worked perfectly..pick up / drop offs/ hotel etc.
Only recommendation is that tourist should be given details of itenary such as hotel name..return boats name and time etc..
A wonderful overview of this beautiful island!
Santorini is absolutely beautiful. The ease of not having to worry about transport was brilliant, all thanks to Viator. The accomodation was average, but did the job. Visiting Santorini is a MUST DO
Santorini is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Be prepared for a lot of walking if you're going to see the famed Blue-domed church. The only downside was not knowing which hotel I was going to stay at until I got dropped off. It worked out for the best as I was in an amazing hotel, less than a minute from the beach. The beach has rocks instead of sand so make sure you have proper footwear as the rocks can be extremely hot.
We took the speed boat, and even so it was mostly travel and not much Santorini. When we arrived, we were dumped in the middle of nowhere by our driver who didn't even tell us the name of our hotel. We were essentially stranded. Luckily, everyone in Greece is super nice and someone helped us.
Everything is good, except one thing: the rest room in the ship is very bad, not clean, no paper....
Santorini was beautiful. If I had to do the trip over again, I would have stayed at Santorini instead of Athens and I would have flown to see the acropolis. The boat ride was horrific, alot of people were sick. The Seajet took 7 hours not 5.5 and it was 3 hours late getting back, so its definitely not worth paying more for. There are accessible buses at the Island that run late at night. We were able to see Fira and Ouia til after sunset and we spent a magnificent day at Kalmari beach the next day.
Hotel was great. boat trip very nice. weather was a problem but not tours fault. rate good
Ferry was good - 7 hours both ways. Hotel nice but LOUD motorbikes all night and no food other than breakfast. Picture shows Oia which is other side of the island.
