The tour was excellent. Our guide spoke perfect English, and he had an incredible store of knowledge about the sites we visited. The hotels were very good, both in accommodation and food.
I do wish we had taken the 4 day tour, which goes to the Monastery, as well, but it did not fit into our schedule this time.
I recommend the tour highly.
I have to confess to approaching this tour with some trepidation as it is not the usual way we travel, but there seemed no better way of seeing the classical sites in the time we had available. The tour was an absolute delight. Our host and guide, Joy, brought her knowledge and passion as a qualified archaeologist to every place we visited. We were also fortunate to have a small group (18) who all got on extremely well and were genuinely interested in everything, even the teenagers! There are a lot of kms to travel between the sites but the coach was comfortable, the scenery interesting and Joy entertained us with chats about history and culture. We stayed the 2 nights in the Amalia hotels at Nafplion and Delphi. Both hotels were extremely comfortable and, being low season, very quiet!
The tour was amazing, well organised and so interesting. Our guide Stachis (spelling?) was extremely knowledgeable. He was the best ever teacher, carrying information from one day to the next - joining up the dots! He made the long journeys pass more quickly too by letting us know beforehand when and where we would be stopping, and breaking up the travel with local history and geographical information. The tour stops were well arranged giving time to stretch legs. Most of the lunch stops were good, particularly at Olympia and the Amalia hotels were excellent. Thanks to George the driver - he managed to miss the dog wandering in the road without causing us any more inconvenience than dropped books and maps. There is a BBC4 documentary by Dr Michael Scott entitled Ancient Greece: The Greatest Show on Earth, and I would recommend watching this before your trip - and again on your return. It all slots into place!

This was an extremely informative, well-paced tour, making the very best use of the time available. We covered a lot of ground (physically and mentally!) of Classical Greece, with enough breaks to give us time to absorb the experience, before heading on towards another highlight. An excellent way of visiting the sites whether (like us) you had visited them before or whether it is your first trip.
This was the best part of our vacation! Our tour guide Stathis (sp?) was AMAZING and I would recommend him to anyone interested in knowing not just what's expected to know from books, but the little nuances that make history and mythology interesting. We had an amazing time, the sites, stories, food, and hotel were better than expected.
The tour was very well organized. My wife and I were picked up from our hotel at the designated time. Our tour guide, Lyla was excellent. She spoke good English and was very knowledgeable of all the historical events. She kept on narrating the history throughout our bus ride also. The bus driver was excellent. He negotiated the complex hair-pin bends so very well. We stayed in Amalia (4 star) hotels on both nights and they were excellent. The Amalia hotel in Delphi was on the hilltop, and provided breathtaking views of the ocean and hills. I wish we had stayed in that hotel several days to enjoy the natural beauty. Also we didn't have enough time to enjoy their beautiful pool and Zacuzzi. Buffet dinner and breakfast at both these hotels were excellent. However, there were couple of downside aspects also. It would be better if the tour guide informs us about some difficult walkways and hiking needs at the sites. Only downside was, that we had to walk about a block or so to get into the bus, as our hotelwas in a narrow street.
Great fun, fantastic intro to classical Greece with a guide who was incredibly informative. Epidaurus and Delphi the highlights - just wonderful.
We had a great time and our tour leader was really knowledgeable and a GREAT story teller. An amazing journey through the beginnings of our civilization. A must for those, like me, who are really interested in antiquities. great accommodations too.
Tour was AMAZING. The ancient sites were beyond beautiful. The guide - Joy( AKA Harra) was extremely informative. Am so glad I did not attempt to view the sites "on my own". The hotel accommodations were so much more than I expected. If you only have a few days to visit Ancient Greece, this is the tour you must book.
A great way to see Greece and learn about the ancient temples.
Knowledgeable tour glide, good use of time and great Hotels.
My wife and I loved this tour! Our tour guide with CHATOURS was fantastic, we met lots of great people while getting to all of the best historical sites in Greece.
It was a wonderful trip. The guide Lila was outstanding in her knowledge and friendlyness.
Really amazing tour, I learned so much. I really enjoyed it and had a wonderful 3 days.
We had an awesome time. Very good tour guide. Nice people in our group. Value for money. Nice hotels.
Had a great time! My first time in Europe and they made it very easy and fun! People were very nice and very helpful.
Amazing tour! Totally professional company and the tour guide was just GREAT! The places are so magical that you can even feel the history of them surrounding you. A MUST DO for everyone going to Greece!
Our guide Cassandra did a great job explaining the significance of key attractions and even some “off the beaten path” attractions that most tourists wouldn’t even know to look for. She really made the trip a big success for me. She was multi-lingual, which was a great benefit to everyone. All the attractions were great, but Olympia and Delphi were without a question the best parts of the tour for me.
I stayed in the four star hotels, all of which were very nice. I would strongly recommend these accommodations over the three stars. Based on the feedback I received from fellow travelers who chose the three star hotels, the three stars were not nice and in fact one of the travelers upgraded to the four star hotel after the first night. 90% of my group stayed in the four star hotels.
The only “negative” was it is a lot of stuff packed into three days. This trip spread over four days would be perfect with more time to relax in the towns. Personally I’d rather see and do more than less, but just be prepared to be constantly on the move with a ton of driving and not a lot of R and R time. Another minor negative is that these tour companies receive kickbacks from proceeds at shops and restaurants along the way, so they’ll make a few stops in shops where you do a tour and spend 30 minutes shopping. I assume all tour groups have this, just be prepared. The only one that was a bit much was the ceramic shop outside of Mycenae. The guy used poor used car-salesman like tactics on his “discounted” replicas, which were WAY overpriced relative to other shops with similar goods. The main guy also hit on my wife, which she didn’t appreciate, nor did I since I had to hear about it on the bus the rest of the day.
It would be next to impossible to cover this much ground, learn a lot, and know where to stay without an organized tour so I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to cover a ton of attractions over a limited amount of time.
I enjoyed this trip immensely. Our tour guide, Anastasia, was a wealth of knowledge. The tour operators took care of everything for us (baggage handling, museum ticket purchases, hotel room reservations, transfers) and all we had to do was sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular views and landmarks. The tour bus was a nice Mercedes mini-bus, clean and new. We rode very comfortably. The only area of the trip that I'd rate less than great, is the hotels, but I guess I may be comparing them to the 4 and 5 stars that I am used to in the States. They were less tan 4 star.
We had a nice relaxing time. Our tour guide Daphni was first rate and very knowledgeable. The itinerary was relaxing but we also got to see a lot. This is the best way to see classical Greece.
After decades, it was great to return to see Epidaurus, Mycenae and Delphi; and to see Olympia for the first time. The new museums at the sites are excellent. The hotels and our guide Casandra were wonderful.
