Fantastic experience at fantastic value. Our guide Irini was able to take us back through the millennia and seamlessly give us a real feel for current trends and issues - we were looking at bronze age burial sites and talking about Mrs. George Clooney trying to get back the Parthenon monuments!
This is great if you are interested in getting to know about history and you enjoy story telling and factual detail. If you are looking for memorable views and natural beauty you wont get much of that - although when the weather is good the sea views were lovely, as were the rock formations in Meteora.
You need to expect between 3 to 4 hours bus travel per day - that's how long it takes to get around and there isn't time to wander around on your own at every sites - especially the museums.
The bus was comfortable, the Amalia hotel rooms were comfortable not luxurious - a good nights' sleep assured . The breakfast and lunch buffets were ok- better in Olympia, average in Delphi and Meteora - but with a wide enough choice, no complaints.
Our group was lovely - very friendly and a great mix of people from all over the world who had a lot in common!
Great tour! Saw so much in 4 days. Corinth Canal, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, Delphi, Thermopylae, Meteora. Katherina our tour guide did an outstanding job explaining to us the significance of what we were seeing at each site. We had a small amount of time at each location to explore. We opted for First Class Accomodations and they were good. Porters at each hotel did a great job unloading and loading our suitcases. So glad we did the 4-day trip to see Meteora. There was a lot of walking around on this tour and we had some older and physically challenged people - they hung in there for most of the tours but sometimes they had to wait while we climbed further. Several museums to visit at Epidaurus, Olympia, and Delphi. This 4 day tour gave us a much broader perspective and exposure to Greece beyond our stay in Athens.
This was a fantastic experience, the archeological sites visited amazing, hotels stayed at offering a lovely ambience , particularly in public spaces, but all of this was enhanced by our fantastic tour leader, "Joy".She made her job of managing guests seem effortless, was always friendly, helpful and courteous, but most of all had a great knowledge of her subject. I've found that tour directors are often dismissive when answering extra questions, but Joy always answered with as much detail as needed. Greatvalue for money.
This tour was excellent. The itinerary was well-paced and went to sites that are well worth one's time. Our guide, Katarina, is one of the best guides I've ever had (on any tour, anywhere in the world). The hotels were fine -- just know that the further afield you go, the less luxurious the hotels become.
My husband and I were travelling with our youg adult daughter. The three of us really enjoyed our tour.
We had a small group (12 people for the first 2 days and 16 people the last 2 days). The tour guide was excellent and made the archeological and other visits more educative by adding anecdotes. He was also providing interesting information on the countryside as we were driving to the sheduled sites. Some of the roads were quite whiny but the mini-bus driver drove very safely. The mini-bus was comfortable and quite new. The hotels were true 4 stars with pools; the food for breakfast and dinner was good and buffet style. For those looking for shopping opportunities in the evening, it would have been difficult since the 2 of the hotels were out of town and the 3rd hotel in a very small town. However, most did not mind and prefered the peaceful surrounding and the scenery. At lunch time, we always stopped in restaurants with good local cuisine. In summary, we come back with memories of incredible cultural sites and natural beauty.
This tour exceeded all my expectations with high quality accommodation, informative commentary by our tour guide Joy who has a great knowledge of History and Archaeology and the archaeological sites selected were great to enthral. Olympia and Delphi were unbelievable areas to visit. Plenty of time was allowed at all venues. Congratulations to the tour operator for providing accommodation in Amalia Hotel chain. The breakfasts and dinners were sensational with excellent spread and service. The pick up and drop off at our hotel is appreciable. Last but not the least the bus was in safe hands of Mr Dimitirs a matured and quite driver. I would recommend this tour to everyone who is visiting Greece.
The trip was fantastic. Our tour guide, Eirene, from Chat Tour is very good. She is patience n explained the ruins very clearly in English. I will highly recommend her if you are taking this 4 days tour package.
This was a terrific tour. Our guide, Marita, was outstanding. She communicated the history in an interesting manner, explained complex things clearly, and knew all about modern Greece as well. It was a delight. The food, and overnight accommodations were high quality as well. For three of the four days we had a very small group which enabled us to ask lots of questions of our guide, and to get to bond as a group. The highlight for my wife and I were the sites of Olympia and Delphi - there was lots more to see and understand than we had anticipated. We'd definitely do this again, or recommend it to friends. Tom and Anne
It was definitely worth doing! Our guide made it the best!! She said everything we wanted to hear and more, we had no questions afterwards. Super fun, good hotel, good food, great way to meet people if you are traveling alone, and super family friendly!
This tour exceeded all expectations with high quality accommodation, informative commentary by our tour guide, Joy and archaeological sites to enthrall. Olympia and Delphi were unbelievable areas to visit with plenty of time allowed at all venues. Congratulations to the Amalia Hotel chain for providing sensational breakfasts with excellent service. The pick up and drop off at our hotel was much appreciated.
Our guide Irene was terrific. Very knowledgeable and atentive. The rooms were very nice.No complaints at all
Great tour! Evie (and Tasos, our driver) was superb. Great knowledge. The only criticism I have (and its minor) is that I would have liked a tour iterinary and a map from the tour operator before we commenced the tour. All in all very memorable. Great introduction to a former great civilization.
This tour kept us moving all over Greece but we learned so much, especially from our guide Emilios. He is very dedicated to history and culture and telling visitors about his country. Hotels were lovely and the hotel buffet food was wonderful.
Our tour guide Kallalopi (spelling) was incredible and extremely informational. She helped in every way. We arrived safely but the bus driver drove way too FAST and took curves too FAST. We got thrown around too many times on the bus.
If you don't have longer to cover the same sights, this tour is perfect it ticks all the boxes and covers a good slice of ancient and classical Greece. We covered a lot of Km's but there was always time for breaks. The provided accommodation with breakfast and dinner included was highly satisfactory with a minor exception.
What made the tour outstanding for us was the way in which Martina our guide imparted her vast knowledge of the history and architecture of this ancient land. Alekos the driver was safe and steady and worked well with Martina, they were both cheerful and very approachable. We would strongly recommend this tour.
I recently completed the 4 Day classical Greece Tour and highly recommend it. Our tour leader Matina was a fountain of knowledge and always had a smile on her face. Plenty of time was allowed to visit each site and the meals and accommodation provided were of a good standard.
This was our first such trip and it was excellent. Our guide Irini was so experienced, personable and fun to be with. She made all the difference for the three of us by bringing ancient and modern greek history really come alive by providing just the right level of detail. The bus was comfortable, the schedule was right and we weret n't overcrowded on our tour. We spent just enough time at each location and the bus was comfortable. Also her suggestions for lunch were very accurate and affordable. I had briefly considered driving the Pelaponesse myself but that would have been a huge mistake! The roads are good but serpentine. Thanks from Bob, Kim and Haley.
Tour was stress free, educational and fun with plenty of extra free time. Our guide, Irini was an encyclopedia of Greek culture, politics, history and mythology. The bus itself was comfy and the hotels were luxurious with each one different in its own way.
I really enjoyed the tour. Our guide and driver were extremely professional, well prepared and took good care of everything.
The places were of course outstanding. Our guide Joy was smart and able to relate the ancient sites and behaviors to modern day events. Once she was injured, however, the new guide was not as good. He was full of information, but did not relate as well to those of us on the tour.
This was the most amazing trip I have ever taken. Perfect accommodations! Great sites with rich history provided by a lovely, well-spoken guide. Driver kept me feeling safe in our travels. Best time and money I've ever spent on vacation. Would've liked a bit more time in some of the cities but great
I had an AMAZING time on this tour. I have been on 16 other guided tours and I can say our guide Katerina was the best I've had. She made everything very interesting and was extremely knowledgeable.
The whole trip was well organized and heaps of fun. I would recommend it to anyone
A 4 day "course" in the history of ancient and classical Greece. At each stop there are numerous ruins and interesting small museums but I have put the most impressive ruins of each site in parentheses. The places visited are the ruins of Mycenae (the burial ring) , Epidaurus (the theatre of the Asklepion), Olympia (the Stadium), Delphi (the sanctuary of Athena and the Temple of Apollo), and the monasteries of Meteora high up on rocky cliffs. All are amazing in their own way.
There are also pleasant and/or interesting quick stops in the romantic town of Nafplio, at the Thermopylae monument, the Rio-Antirrio bridge, the town of Nafpaktos, and the town of Kalambaka in the shadow of Meteora.
The first class hotels are all in the Amalia chain which is associated with CHAT tours that does this tour. The accommodations and food are fine and this tour is a "must do" for those interested in ancient and classical Greece.
