It was a great ride and tour through the city of Athens. Our host was awesome. He took us to all of the key sites and gave us a great history lesson. He was very knowledgeable of the ancient history and other civilizations too. Note: It is wise to bring drinking water and a small back pack or pouch. The ride is a bit challenging if you are not a strong and confident rider, although I think he might alter the route depending on the riders in the group.
I thought that the "Athens Bike Tour" was a lot of fun and well organised. It was a great way to see the tourist attractions in Athens and I preferred it to walking because you could see a lot more things in the same time frame (as well as seeing things you wouldn't normally have seen as a tourist). It was also interesting to hear the Greek history and have the opportunity to talk with someone from Greece. The bike had gears and was in good condition. The ride could be modified to suit people of all fitness levels. There was also a break half way where you got to try Greek pastry - delicious! I would recommend the ride for couples and older families. There are short occasional periods where you ride on the road with the cars which I don't think would be appropriate for young children. All in all, it was a highlight of my trip to Athens.
On a side note, the same company also offers a bike tour to the beach near Athens. Apparently it's a really nice beach so if you had a few days in Athens and wanted to see all the tourist attractions by foot, then riding to the beach may be a nice alternative to see something different.
The only concern was locating where to meet the guide. Partly our fault because we didn't have an international calling program. Great local called for us and got us connected. It ended up just being Christos and my husband and I and it was great. We saw sights that you sure couldn't see (at least in 4 hours -- it was supposed to be 3 -- extra!!!) on a tour bus and Christos was great.
We highly recommend doing this bike tour. Its a great way to get around and see lots of the sites. Vivian our guide was very good and easy to listen too.
Great bike ride tour, easy ride with lots to see, good if you get bored easy and get sick of hearing about history, because you're riding and there's change of scenery the whole time. Stopping to try the local donut type sweets was the highlight! VERY DELICIOUS! The ride was easy, bikes in good condition, wouldn't have seen everything had I been on foot, perfect amount of breaks for rest/water/bathroom etc, guide was very knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone!!! Worth the money!
