What You Can Expect
Glide past Hadrian’s Arch, the monumental gateway that once separated the old and new part of the city, and hear about the Emperor Hadrian who ruled Athens during the 2nd century AD. After stopping to take photos and listen to tales about this historic area, set off for your next stop.
See the Temple of Zeus, the largest monument of Ancient Greece, and pass through Zappeion Garden – a wonderfully serene extension of the National Garden of Athens. Stop to look at the Old Parliament House on Stadiou Street and swing past the Presidential Mansion, admiring its majestic white façade.
Your 2.5-hour tour finishes with a look at Panathinaikos – the city stadium -- where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1895. Also known as Kalimarmaro Stadium, this vast site has a seating capacity of 60,000 and is one of Athens’ true modern-day highlights.
After exploring all the city sights with your guide, glide back to the start point where your tour ends.
Sure beats walking.
Loved this tour. Great way to see Athens. Really hot on the day we went and being on the Segway made it really easy to get around. Look forward to doing the same tour in Paris. Don't be scared it's easier than you think.
thoroughly enjoyed our segway tour. had read about the guide, Vera, and she did not disappoint. she was very careful of each of the participants - watchful that no one is left behind or lost and careful to point out dangerous spots, etc. also offered to take photos for us. doing a segway tour in Athens is perfect! touring on wheels!
Excellent experience and a lot of fun!! I would highly recommend this tour! We would not have been able to see as much as Athens had we gone on foot. This was a much faster and easy way to explore and sight-see!
So glad we booked this tour! Vera was an excellent Segway instructor and highly knowledgeable about the history and the sites. Got to see every site on my list of sites to see. One drawback is that there is not time to actually climb up to the acropolis. No worries though! Because the tour is just 2.5 hours and you get to see everything else up close, we simply went back to the acropolis later in the afternoon for a leisurely look. Highly recommend if you want to try an awesome way to see things that doesn't involve walking.
This was our first excursion on a Mediterranean cruise, and despite all the other things we've done, this was the best! Not only was Athens gorgeous, the segways were easy to use and so much fun. We got so many jealous looks and heard people comment how they wanted to ride a Segway. Our guide spoke great English and was very friendly and knowledgable. When we got back to our ship, many of our shipmates commented how sore their feet were and how they wished they too had taken a Segway.
We loved this tour. I was anxious about the Segway but had no trouble with it. The tour was fun, perfect amount of history and info to know what you wanted to explore further. Staff was very good teaching each individual how to safely ride the Segway.
On our first day in Athens, we decided to go do a segway tour since many of the sites require walking. It was very helpful to get an orientation to the place we went back later to walk on foot. At first I was hesitant about the segway since I never rode one before, but after a 5 minute training session, I was set to go! It's really worth your money and I think you will have lots of fun.
My daughter and I took this tour and loved it! Our guide Panos was very knowledgeable and friendly and so sweet to us! We booked a 10am tour, but realized since it was Easter weekend that we wouldn't be able to get in to the Acropolis when we were done, so they were nice enough to reschedule us for the 3pm tour. This tour gives you a nice overview of all of the important attractions of Athens with some great historical background. It does not give you enough time to actually go into any of the sites and explore. So do this tour first then go back and see the highlights you want to spend more time in. You will want to climb up to the Acropolis later, as this tour does not give time to do that. But it was a great way to see sights that you might not want to walk to like the Flea Market and the Gardens and Zeus temple. I highly recommend it, and the Segways were a lot of fun and easy to get used to. Panos is a GREAT guide!!!! Thanks!
There is no other way to tour Athens in my opinion. This was fun, easy, and the tour was very knowledgeable.
