This Food Tour given by Vassiliki was fantastic. She gave us a down to earth appreciation of Greek food and took us to out of the way places which tourists would not be aware of.We tasted genuine Greek food made for locals. Vassiliki also filled us in with Greek history and current events. A most interesting and wonderful three hours.

This was by far the BEST part of our trip to Athens.
I appreciate and enjoy are the "real" people of various countries and cities I visit. Take me away from the tourist traps and give me the true "heartbeat" of the place. You will have this here! Despina was superb and the foods and locations= +++!

I don't have a bad word to say about this tour, I loved it, I adored the food, and I especially liked the guide. She was incredible knowledgable, personable and entertaining. There is no tour I can recommend more than this one, I tried everything (including the raki!) and was not disappointed once.

An excellent tour with a side dish of Greek culture! Tastings were great, the last dish of souvlaki and Greek beer gave us the energy to tour the Acropolis. We especially enjoyed the grocery store (Pontopolion) and the fish and meat/ fruit and vegetable markets. Being off the tourist path was interesting, too. Despina puts her heart and soul into these tours, highly recommended.

I would highly recommend this tour. It is excellent value for money, particuarly if you are only in Athens for a few days as you get to see many places that you wouldn't think to go otherwise and taste wonderful traditional greek delights that you probably wouldn't come across on your own . The tour guide Despina was also very fun and informative.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on the food tour with Despina, who was knowledge, friendly, fun and passionate about Greek food and the people who produce, make and cook it. It was lovely to see Athens neighbourhoods that aren't on the tourist trail, and to have access to Despina's contacts and knowledge on the best places to find authentic and tasty food. I'm usually all for exploring a place under our own steam, and don't think of myself as someone who would normally go on a tour, yet this was the best possible way we could have seen Athens. I would highly recommend this food tour to anyone who wants to spend a morning immersed in Athens food culture. Thank you so much Despina!

We really enjoyed this tour!! Our tour guide, Despina was excellent and gave us a real inside look and Greek food and culture in Athens. We tasted many tasty dishes and treats along the way! This tour supports many local stores, restaurants and markets where food and items are produced on site or local to Athens, which was wonderful. thank you for a wonderful day in Athens!

Fabulous!!! Our guide was so much fun, and she obviously has a passion for food. She had us trying all kinds of things, and she showed us great places to buy some gifts for friends. If you like to sample the food culture, this is a trip for you!!

Despera gave the BEST tour of our three week trip - warm, interesting, knowledgeable, festy, loaded with quips and humor, eager for each of us to enjoy and learn....I would urge anybody even slightly interested in ethnic food to register for this tour - we loved it.

I thoroughly recommend this excellent tour. Despina was a great tour guide, answering questions and proving information on a range of topics, not just food. We were given a broad and very generous range of samples from many different outlets, with no pressure to purchase (though members of the group willingly did so in some places). The map and list of places visited was very helpful, for returning to excellent places later. As we were self catering for a week, it was very helpful getting advice on how much and how to buy at at the markets (very revealing to some of the younger members of our group to see whole carcasses with heads attached in the meat market!). We were a group of 10 which was manageable, and Despina took good care of us when crossing roads etc. A walking tour like this gives you such a great feel for the city, and gives you the confidence to go beyond the normal tourist cafes and shops.

In may I booked several tours, and this was the best. Despina our guide has true knowledge about greek gastronomy and its history so to hear her explanations about greek products, their preparations and how to get the best of the whole experience is an enjoyment.

Amelia was a super guide, lots of stories of the 'back roads of Athens', to the modern. Sites smells sounds were all the tour should be. Take your senses with you and an appetite. All places visited/tasted were local and the best part non touristy. Enjoy
