Mycenae and Epidaurus Day Trip from Athens

Theatre at Epidaurus, Greece

Begin your day trip with a pickup at your Athens hotel or from near Syntagma Square in central Athens. Settle inside your air-conditioned coach and admire the scenery as you trace the coast of the Saronic Gulf into the Peloponnese.

After around 1.5 hours, arrive at the ancient hilltop city of Mycenae and enjoy a walking tour of the ruins of this once powerful, fortified settlement. Hear how the city was, in Greek myth, ruled by King Agamemnon, and view highlights such as the Palace, Tomb of Agamemnon and Lion’s Gate.

Afterward, stop in the pretty seaport of Nauplia before continuing to ancient Epidaurus, the mythological birthplace of Asklepios, the Greek god of healing.

Tour the spectacular relics, including the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Asklepios, with its crumbled buildings. Then, ogle the breathtaking ancient theatre of Epidaurus. Built in the 4th century BC, the colossal theater is considered one of the world’s most beautiful and still boasts fabulous acoustics.

Your trip ends back at the original departure point in Athens.

Very good tour. I normally avoid tours like this, but this one was really good, with an excellent guide, who gave a fantastic historic over-view of these sites and Greece in general. My only comment was that it would have good to have a little longer free time at each site to wander round

The tour was incredibly interesting and the guide/coach driver made it all very smooth! I would have preferred more time to explore Mycenae (we only had 30 min). Also, I didn and #39;t get the lunch, but didn and #39;t realise we and #39;d be at a hotel in the middle of nowhere, so it and #39;s a good thing I had my book!

This tour was a high point for our Greece trip. We went to multiple interesting places. Mycenae was amazing and so ancient. Joy our tour leader was the best!! She provided information about each stop, as well as information about areas which we passed through. She made the trip fun. I am so glad I took this trip.

Highly recommended! Very knowledgable guide who gave us a clear introduction to each site and still left enough time for us to explore on our own.

I booked 4 of these types of tours over my trip and this was by far the best! The cost covered everything from lunch to admission which was a nice change. But most importantly the tour guide was AMAZING. Having studied archaeology in school I knew much of the information, but he presented it in an extremely engaging way. He didn't linger on anything too long and made sure we saw both the highlights and the hidden views. His pleasant ramblings about the Grecian countryside during the bus ride were the cherry on top of a perfect day trip. GO ON THIS TOUR.
