The Hop On Hop Off bus tour is an essential tool if you want to explore Auckland on your own. Be aware though that unlike in Europe, there is only one bus for either line red or blue that is continuously going around in a loop and it comes at the stop every 30 minutes. That said, you need to time your visits or you'll be spending a lot of time waiting. I felt that we weren't able to visit all places that we wanted because it was raining that day. My tip would be for you to get the 2-day pass because that way, you save money and you're not too pressed for time either. Plenty of sights to see out there!
great tour bus. it was the best of all the hop on hop off bus tours we were on. very good information on all the sites in multiple languages. buses ran often so that you could get off and on without any concern about thinking that you might not get another bus or would have to wait long.
Good way to see the city and experience what Auckland has to offer
Our tour bus drivers were excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and the places of interest pointed out. Very well done!!
Great way of seeing Auckland. Buses on time, commentary excellent.
Excellent, we were able to get around the city easily, although a little disappointed as we wanted to visit the MOTAT museum. We got to the stop only to be informed it was closed. We wish the driver had mentioned this at the pick up.
I did enjoy getting off the bus and walking up the mountain and all the buses were on time that I used.
Great way to see the city on our three day visit pre-cruise. Also for cruise passengers, it would be very convenient to access right from the cruise terminal, just steps to the Ferry Building. Highly recommend the Auckland Museum.
Enjoyed Auckland sights very much. Great way to see a lot of the area.
Always a great way to get to know a new city and this was no exception. Buses were very frequent and ran to timetable. Great value for money.
We hopped off the bus at four stops and never had to wait long for the next bus. Especially enjoyed the botanical gardens.
Very organized way to tour Auckland for the day we had post cruise. Handout provided with commentary on each stop, plus times the bus stopped there was helpful and made our sightseeing very efficient to take both the Red and Blue line tour loops.
Two intersecting routes, great way to see Auckland. Viatour was 15 cheaper per person than purchasing ticket at the dock or on the bus.
Great way to see the city and get an overview of what to visit.
Perfect if you are short of time, tour around major areas of Auckland, good audio system so could hear the guide well.
WHAT FUN! the ability to get OFF and ON made is special and allowed us to really get to SEE AUCKALAND!! also to b able to 'stop off', grab some lunch or shop was SPECTACULAR!! We have 'hopped on/off' around the WORLD but this was one of THE BEST of all!! Do yourself a favor...use it!!!
The great aspect of he Hop-on Hop-off tour is the ability to spend time at a venue and do some sightseeing. The Sky tower was well worth the visit, as was the Museum. I thoroughly recommend this tour as it is a good way to see Auckland if your time is limited.
A good way to see an overview of Auckland while in Port. The Museum was amazing as was the cultural presentation. I would highly recommend this for a day in Port.
This is the only way to get introduced to a new city. We book a 48 hour tour and use the first day to make a complete tour to see where we want to return. The second day we return and hop-on and hop-off The tour covered Auckland very well and we enjoyed the real time audio.
Helpful drivers. You don and #39;t need 2 days to do Auckland and #39;s main tourist spots. Chose what you want to see depending on your interests. The pass covers both red and blue lines. They connect(you change) at the Museum. Spend the extra time doing some boat trips or bungee jumps etc.
Very well organized and really appreciated the commentary along on the way. Directions were clear. We did this in Melbourne and it wasn't half as well managed.
