Kumeu Wine Country Tour
After pickup from your Auckland hotel, head to Nobilo Wines, the second-largest wine producer in New Zealand well-known for its pioneering wine brands. Taste some popular wines from the Marlborough, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne regions.
Learn from your guide about the history of the region, which was originally settled by Croatian immigrants in the early 1900s. Hear about the first planting of grape vines in the 1930s and the wine-making legacy that has become renowned around the world.
Continue to Matua Valley Wines, a small, family-run winery established in 1974 that quickly gained a reputation for innovative wines. Taste premium wines that have been specially crafted for cellaring or sample the popular, ready-to-drink wines.
Make a stop at award-winning Soljans Estate Winery. Learn about the skillful marriage of traditional and modern techniques as you savor some richly flavored wines popular in New Zealand.
At the restaurant at Soljans, enjoy a delightful Mediterranean-style lunch with a New Zealand twist, showcasing fresh seasonal produce from around the region.
Next, travel to the breathtaking coastline of Muriwai Beach, one of the few mainland gannet-nesting sites in the world. From August to April, more than 1,000 pairs of adult gannets come to breed, and you may be able to get amazing close-up views of these birds in their natural environment! Learn about this site from your guide before strolling along the beach.
Finally, head to West Brook Winery which overlooks rows of vines and an idyllic duck pond. Taste wines that reflect the unique varietals of the region before relaxing on the drive back to your Auckland hotel.

Very nice tour- we had not been on any wine tours previously, and learned alot. One of the wineries was not open initially, so we had to go back. Note that there appears to be a presumption that a purchase will be made at each winery.
