Small-Group Matakana Coast Food and Wine Tour from Auckland

Matakana Coast Food and Wine Small Group Day Trip from Auckland

Start your small-group tour with hotel pickup in Auckland before heading to the Matakana Coast, located less than an hour's drive away. Your first stop is the Honey Centre in Warkworth, a family-run establishment boasting the largest display of live bees in New Zealand. Watch the buzzing insects at work and taste an array of natural honeys, such as manuka and clover, along with mead (honey wine) and fruit wine.

Continue your wine tasting at a local winery, where your guide points out the complex aromas, flavors and textures of award-winning wines. Then admire ceramic sculpture and hand-crafted pottery shaped by local craftspeople as you tour the Collection Showroom at Morris & James in Matakana.

Relax at Mahurangi River Winery & Restaurant for a sit-down lunch amid contemporary architecture with vineyard views. Dine on farm-fresh delights before a tour of the winery, where you’ll visit the barrel room for a sample of wine produced from locally grown grapes.

Afterward, there’s time for more art at Brick Bay Farm. Follow the Sculpture Trail, an outdoor gallery landscaped with native trees alongside lakes and scenic pastures, followed by a unique wine tasting in the Glass House that overlooks the acclaimed Brick Bay Vineyard.

Tantalize your taste buds at Chocolate Brown with a sampling of decadent handmade chocolates, before completing your full-day tour with the return to Auckland and drop-off at your hotel.

Please note: due to seasonality, winery tours and lunch venue are subject to change.

Throughly enjoyed the two wineries. The honey stop was also terrific, great for gifts! The pottery wasn't a highlight, but was good to stretch the legs. The knowledge of our guide was wonderful and greatly appreciated. The chocolate shop was a real highlight, make sure you save room to enjoy some truly delicious treats.
The pick of the day was the sculpture park, lots of fresh-air and the diversity in the art was inspiring. Really something for everyone.

Excellent tour! Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting, especially at Ransom Wines. Dave, my tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Highlights was the lunch at Brick Bay and the visit to see the Kauri tree.... Worth every penny!

Loved the small group tour. Much better than the large group ones. Our driver/guide was interesting and had tons of information to share with us the whole trip. The three Vineyards were very different, so it made it more interesting. The pottery factory was a nice change. The meal was great, so was the coffee stop.

This was a great tour. We really enjoyed getting out of the city and seeing the sights. Our favorite had to be Brick Bay Winery! The area is so beautiful and the lunch was amazing. Some of the best food we had while in New Zealand. As if on cue during lunch a flock of sheep came down the mountainside. Chocolate Brown was a high point as well. This was a small group tour but we were the only ones that day so we were able to move somewhat at our own pace which was nice. John our guide was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this tour!
