The guide on the bus was very informative about New Zealand on the way to Hobiton. There were lots of groups going around Hobiton but you could still get a good photo without other people in them. The gift shop was the only disapointment for the whole day.
The tour was a great experience. David of Great Sight went beyond his call of duty! As much as he is knowledgeable of NZ he was also a very nice person; told us not to worry about our pram and attended to our stuff while me, my wife and toddler enjoyed Hobbiton.
Murray, driver, was nice and polite.
The Driver collected us early from our motel - start of a wonderful day!
Wonderful place to visit, the included lunch was very good and filling and we even stopped for ice creams on our way back to the city. Would highly recommend this trip to all
As a mega fan of Lord of the Rings books and movies, this was a dream come true. Our driver and guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and kept us well informed as the day progressed. A wonderful, exciting day! I would rate this tour a 5. Oh yeah, the lunch was tasty too.

We loved every moment
My husband worked on first lord of rings production screening some of the rail rushes. He was in his element. Our family love hobbit series. The green dragon was just so special and the ginger beer amazing. Our guide was outstanding. Lots of information and even taking photos.
The tour guide was extremely helpful. At the last minute without telling the travel company we decided that we wanted to travel to Rotorua after Hobbiton rather than head back to Hobbiton. Our tour guide sorted it all out and somehow managed to get us on another tour bus going to Rotorua! Amazing work and very much appreciated. Can't thank him enough for being thrown this curve ball and coming up with a great solution.
Couldn't have chosen a better tour to go with. We'll worth every penny. Wayne's commentary were spot on, educational, entertaining and most funny. The whole trip felt you wanting to go on more tours with the company
Terrific day out despite the early start from Auckland. Well organised with a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide who really put himself out. Hobbiton is a must see for any devotees of the books or the films - I just wish it was bigger with more of the sets, especially the set for Bree from LoR but the Green Dragon does make up for it and the beer is superb - (but no pipe weed!). Amazingly a couple of people on the tour had neither read the books or seen the films but were very impressed with the whole experience. 5 star rating.
The process of booking and then actually going on the your was really easy, the tour guides were really friendly and informative and provided for an amazing day!
Perfect! Our guides were great, timing was perfect and it could not have been better. The small group size was good too since it allowed us to move around pretty freely on the set without tripping over each other. Can't wait till I'm in New Zealand again to do another tour with you!
We were lucky that it was a bright sunny day, excellent for pictures. We were served a hot lunch, which I appreciated. I was picked up from my hotel and the driver was very helpful.
It's a great tour, but only if you are a true
Tolkien fan and believer of Middle Earth. Then you come away appreciating not only Tolkien's masterpiece but also Peter Jackson's vision and pride in New Zealand. Otherwise, you'll view it as just another movie set. I also appreciated the driver's running commentary on Auckland history and important sites as we drove along the lovely countryside.
We loved the trip. The driver was friendly engaging through out the trip, and the guide at Hobbiton provided interesting and often amusing anecdotes about the Hobbiton set and what went on during the filming.
Excellent day trip and thoroughly enjoyed the Cider on offer at the Green Dragon :-)
