My first visit to New Zealand and one of my must do thing is see Hobbiton. I did lots of research online and I really want to spend longer time and get there early to take lots of picture in Hobbiton. I came across on tripadvisor which direct me to Viator for booking. I was glad I pick this tour because the tour group size was small and I was very lucky with just me and other person in the tour. I was pick up from my hotel at SkyCity 6:40am in the morning and another pick up in Auckland our journey to Hobbiton begin. Before we reach Hobbiton we stop over at a cafe for some to go breakfast and coffee. During the ride our Tour guide Alexander give us lots of history about New Zealand and gave us lots of detail about different spot when we pass by some location. Once we get to Hobbiton Alexander help us pick up our tickets and let us know where to wait for our bus and where he will be waiting for us when we come back from Hobbiton tour. He also ask if any of us are vegetarian because our tour include lunch at Hobbiton. Also we received a NZ10 Shopping voucher to be used in the Hobbiton Gift Shop.
The best part of this tour we got there before 9:30am and we was on the first tour!!! I was able to take lots of pictures with people in the background and I even had a Ale at the Dragon Inn!! I was glad I am not with the coach bus I notice they arrive a lot later and your pictures will probably have lots of people in the background!!!
On the way back to Auckland Alexander let us know he will make it a quite ride and let us take a nap or rest. I also request if he can drop us off at Mt Eden and he even gave us detail how to get back to SkyCity area.
I highly recommend with this tour group and my next trip visiting New Zealand for sure I will sign up their tour again.
Very professional tour. Well worth the money. Lovely scenery, good information, delicious lunch, small group with plenty of personal attention. Loved it!
Interesting road trip from Auckland, guide Kevin Oats was very knowledgeable and made the long ride interesting. Short stops for each direction for a toilet break and coffee. Its an early start and back by 4pm onto Auckland. Visit to the film site was enjoyable and a beer before a light lunch. Enjoyable trip.
Great tour with a tasty lunch. It was lovely to see the scenery and hobbit holes. Fantastic experience if you're a fan of the books/films and even if you're not. On the way back our driver stopped for ice cream which was a nice treat.
So cool to see all of the hobbit holes. The Alexander farm is breathtaking and the tour guide was absolutely incredible!
We were only a small group, with an awesome driver who made the trip very interesting with his great knowledge and willingness to share his stories and experiences with us. The coffee stop was nice and the tour itself was just what we wanted. There were only one or two other groups and we had a wonderful time. We were first to be welcomed in the tent for lunch and had a ball. The food was out of this world and we enjoyed every moment. On the way back, the driver was quit, to allow those who wanted to sleep their time off, but he took a different route so we could see more of the country and also stopped for us to buy ice cream. This was an experience that we will not forget and if possible, will try to repeat.
This is a must see place if you are in NZ...tour guides were very informative as well.
Well done to Zack, the tour guide from Hobbiton and the Driver too..
Really great day and our driver Dave was awesome. Loved the Hobbiton set your and I'm not even a very big LOTR fan. It was adorable!! Meal served was good.
The tour offered by the local tour operator was awesome. Wayne kept us entertained throughout the drive. Hobbiton was also awesome. Sam, our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. He even volunteered to take multiple pictures of everyone in our group at Bag End. The beer and food included in this package was also very good. We will definitely look into more local tours when we visit again!
Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly I had a blast! Hobbiton was fun, and the ice cream was AMAZING! Totally worth every penny!
Unbelievably good, both set and set up. Took over 500 photos, got over 400 Macbook likes and had a blast.
We had an awesome day! Alexander our driver and guide was lovely, he was very chatty and gave us lots of information about New Zealand on our journey to Hobbiton. He kept us well entertained. We had a young lady called Meredith who took us on the tour of Hobbiton and again she was lovely, very friendly and informative. We loved Hobbiton and felt that it had been set up really well. I give this tour a big thumbs up and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks guys for a very memorable day
Wayne was awesome and very informative. Drive was broken up with a stop going there and back. Hobbiton was all you could ask for. Wish we had a little more time to shop but we were able to buy all we wanted.
Our guide was David, he was WONDERFUL! He treated us like we were his family that he was taking on a tour! He wasn't pushy, he allowed us a chance to souvenir shop, he was lovely!! As we drove along he told us all he knew about the towns and cities we went through. He gave excellent suggestions of other things to do. Gave us the option to be dropped off at a different location than our hotel, since it was in the same area. HE was the one who made that tour super enjoyable. Would do any other tour as long as he was the guide!!!
Magnificent day out. I was not over excited before doing this tour, but I was so wrong. This is such an enjoyable tour. Hobbiton is a magical place and you would never tire of viewing all these little places, complete with wheelbarrows, gardens, clothes lines with tiny clothes on and many more things to make this place come alive. Nice touch was the ale in the Green Dragon Inn and the lunch was delicious. On the way home we stopped for an ice cream and for A2 you got the biggest, tastiest ice cream we have ever had. About fifty flavours to choose from. All in all a really wonderful tour.
Funny and friendly bus driver Wayne who explained us plenty things about the region and Hobbiton itself. Nice and informative guide Paul who even offered taking pictures of us.
I can highly recommend this tour!
The trip was everything we dreamed it would be. The coach driver was very knowledgeable. He gave a great tour on our way to Hobbiton and answered all questions we had. The tour guide from Hobbiton was great and the lunch was perfect. Thank you so much for a wonderful day
We really enjoyed the trip. It was relaxing and very entertaining. The village was very well done. I appreciate the farmer allowing the set to be placed there. You have an amazing country. The weather was also excellent. Your narration and guides were also very entertaining. I am very glad we did the tour with your company vs booking one with the cruise line.
Brenda Leake and Harry Adams
This tour was amazing.
Exceeded my expectations.
I don't "do" tours usually, but this was fantastic. Would go again in a heartbeat
Wonderful tour! We had an excellent driver Wayne from the tour company from Auckland. He gave us plenty of history of the region on our way from Auckland to Hobbiton. The crowds had not arrived yet so we got to take plenty of pictures and view the setting and were not rushed through. Afterwards, the tour included a sample of ale and a lovely lunch. Would recommend..
A REALLY ENJOYABLE TRIP. THE DRIVER WAS REALLY FRIENDLY AND VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE ROUTE AND HOBBITON. THE GUIDE AT HOBBITON ITSELF WAS ALSO VERY WELCOMING AND KNEW HIS STUFF.
Had a great time. Everything was as described; Ben picked me up on time (actually a little early - he was waiting when I stepped outside), Wayne did a great job storytelling the whole way there and most of the way back. Hobbiton was of course wonderful. I posted a picture of myself in front of Bag End on facebook. My son responded "That man couldn't look more smug if Gandalf himself had invited him on an adventure". Apparently, I had a VERY good time. Thanks so much - definitely delivered above expectations!
