What You Can Expect

Provence in One Day Small Group Day Trip from Avignon

See the beautiful villages in Provence on your day tour

Your 10-hour tour of Provence begins with morning pickup from your Avignon hotel. Meet your guide and small group, then take a seat in the minivan for a scenic ride through the Provençal countryside.

You'll stop first at the amazing Pont du Gard, constructed in the 1st century AD. Considered an ancient work of art, this UNESCO-listed construction is the highest of all elevated Roman aqueducts. Admire the preserved three-tiered structure that spans the mighty Gardon River. Then continue south to Les Baux de Provence – a fortified medieval village carved straight from the limestone-rich earth. Take some time to explore, have lunch (own expense) and snap photos of the Luberon plains.

Next, travel to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, to see ‘Les Antiques,’ a funeral monument and triumphal arch. Perched within view of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum where Van Gogh was institutionalized, this site became a natural subject of his.

The final leg of your tour heads to Luberon, the setting of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence, and to the stunning hilltop villages of Gordes and Roussillon. Admire the medieval architecture and the natural wonders that surround these distinctive towns.

On the return trip, stop at the Lavender Museum in Coustellet to learn more about the tradition and cultivation of lavender farming in Provence and discover the many versatile products that are infused with lavender flowers. Your tour ends with drop-off at your Avignon hotel in the evening.

Our guide Violette was knowledgeable friendly and flexible. As we were the only guests in the afternoon she was able to make some changes to eliminate attractions we had already seen, thus increasing our overall enjoyment.

Great pace! Great sites! Great guide(Julien). My only recommendation would be to swap the lavender museum for a wine tasting or cheese tasting. This tour was exactly what I was looking for. I only had 36 hours in Provence and with work, didn and #39;t have time to research a trip. A taste of Provence.

We enjoyed the trip. Despite the wet weather, the sites were interesting and the guide was fabulous. She gave us the information we needed without being intrusive and gave us the freedom to explore each site ourselves. The bus was comfortable and a good size for the 8 passengers. The length of the trip was perfect.

This tour was excellent and enjoyed it very much,we visited many beautiful small towns, Julien our tour guide and driver is very knowledgeable about the places we visited and even gave us tips about local food still waiting for his grandmother lamb recipe though :. I would have like to see the hospital near St. Remy were Van Gough was committed. than the visit to the lavender museum, one of the lady with us could not go in because she has allergic to perfumes, so she had to wait for us outside. My favourite are Roussillon and the dry-stone village of Gordes, our last stop was in Pont du Gard bridge which is just fantastic and in perfect time. We also visited and enjoyed a little shopping in the market. I highly recommend this tour. We also took the lavender tour with this company and was happy with their service.

We were only spending 3 nights in Avignon. The day trip was exactly what we need to have a taster of Provence. We went to a few villages 'and other sites. We felt like we did and saw a lot in one day, but we didn't feel rushed. Our guide was very friendly and good.
