Take the road less traveled through rural Bali as you explore the terraced rice paddies and beautiful Balinese temples found near Bongkasa Village, on this private half-day cycling adventure with a guide. This excursion on two wheels is the perfect opportunity to get out of the car and feel the wind on your face as you discover the lush landscapes, intriguing architecture and friendly culture of Bali's rural interior.
Start your cycling adventure with a pickup from your Bali hotel around 9am. Your tour operator will confirm the exact time, as some pickups will commence prior to this time. Then drive by air-conditioned minivan to the tiny hamlet of Bongkasa, located near the famous Balinese city of Ubud. Listen to a short safety demonstration and overview of your riding route from your guide, including a quick tutorial on the bike's gears and brakes, before starting your cycle tour.
Begin your leisurely ride covering around 10 miles (17km) in about 2 hours, most of which takes place on flat or downhill terrain. Over the course of your excursion you'll pass through emerald-green fields and terraced rice paddies, the sounds of tropical birds and buzzing insects floating to your ears. You'll also pass through several Balinese villages, which offer an opportunity to admire the unique architectural style of Bali's traditional houses and temples, chat with the towns' welcoming locals and learn about the island's unique culture from your guide as you go.
Take a few breaks along the way, including a stop at a local eatery where you can purchase lunch (at your own expense). Then finish your ride back at the original starting point, at which point you'll receive drop-off back at your hotel.
