What You Can Expect

2-Day Southern Catalonia Tour: Sitges, Tarragona and Santes Creus

2-Day Southern Catalonia Tour: Sitges, Tarragona and Santes Creus

Less than an hour from Barcelona, the first stop on your 2-day small-group tour of southern Catalonia's most popular sites is Sitges. Discover the authentic Mediterranean atmosphere of this old fishing village, that has been fashionable since the 1890s, when it became an avant-garde art-world hangout.

Stroll along its shady streets, lined with traditional whitewashed houses and inviting boutiques; after you make your way out of this charming labyrinth, you’ll suddenly find yourself on the seafront. Make a stop in one of the numerous cosmopolitan bars and restaurants and soak up the atmosphere. Sitges has dining options to suit every taste and budget. After a leisurely lunch, head off to one of the 17 beaches the town has to offer.

In the afternoon, travel to Tarragona, where you will feel like you are traveling back to the days of ancient Rome. Check in to your hotel in time for dinner, and then spend the rest of your evening at leisure.

On your second day, visit Santes Creus, a beautiful Cistercian monastery dating back to 1158. After a traditional local lunch, you'll visit Bodegas Torres, one of the most famous wineries in Catalonia. Torres is Spain's largest producer of Denomination of Origin wines under its own label, exporting to more than 140 countries. Under the Torres brand name, they trade wine based on a range of different labels, as well as brandies. On your tour you'll learn all about the region's fabulous wine, enjoy a tasting and have the chance to buy wines to take home with you. Occasionally, the visit to Bodegas Torres may be changed to Freixenet Cavas. Refer to the Itinerary for a full breakdown of activities.
