What You Can Expect
2-Day Southern Catalonia Tour: Sitges, Tarragona and Santes Creus
Stroll along its shady streets, lined with traditional whitewashed houses and inviting boutiques; after you make your way out of this charming labyrinth, you’ll suddenly find yourself on the seafront. Make a stop in one of the numerous cosmopolitan bars and restaurants and soak up the atmosphere. Sitges has dining options to suit every taste and budget. After a leisurely lunch, head off to one of the 17 beaches the town has to offer.
In the afternoon, travel to Tarragona, where you will feel like you are traveling back to the days of ancient Rome. Enjoy a guided tour of the city, where you'll explore the Old Quarter, and admire the stone walls and stunning cathedral. From there, continue down through the old town to discover the Roman Forum and the nearby Roman Circus. And last, but not least, enjoy the breathtaking sea view over the Roman amphitheater.
On your second day, visit Santes Creus, a beautiful Cistercian monastery dating back to 1158. After a traditional local lunch, you'll visit Bodegas Torres, one of the most famous wineries in Catalonia. Torres is Spain's largest producer of Denomination of Origin wines under its own label, exporting to more than 140 countries. Under the Torres brand name, they trade wine based on a range of different labels, as well as brandies. On your tour you'll learn all about the region's fabulous wine, enjoy a tasting and have the chance to buy wines to take home with you.
Itinerary
Depart Barcelona at 8:30am and travel to Sitges, a beguiling Catalan coastal village. Enjoy the “Route of the Americans” walking tour, and use your free time to discover the alluring charm of Sitges' cobbled streets, whitewashed fishermen's houses and gorgeous beaches. Then find your perfect spot for a peaceful lunch by the sea. In the afternoon, depart to the Roman city of Tarragona, where you will have a guided tour of the city and its numerous Roman attractions.

Day 2: Tarragona - Santes Creus - Barcelona (B, L)
After breakfast, depart to Santes Creus. Free time to visit its Cistercian monastery (admission included), the only monastery in the Cister Route with no monastic life . Enjoy a typical local lunch and head on to Torres wine cellars, where you will have a tour of the winery and a wine tasting. You'll then head back to Barcelona, where your tour ends.
