I don't recommend the Barcelona card UNLESS you plan on visiting or participating in 75 or more of the places and activities they offer discounts on. My group and I used the 5-day pass and while it was definitely convenient, we felt as though we would have been better off just purchasing the passes from TMB. We only ever utilized the card for the Metro we never too the bus the only deal we took advantage of was the discount for the Teleferic de Montjuic. Also, the cards are flimsy and prone to damage. One of my group members could not get the card to work after only the first day. The tourism offices DO exchange it but they gave us a little bit of a hard time about it.

Tourists with some previous experience in Barcelona may find the Barcelona Card and Guidebook useful, especially for a three day or longer stay but the museum discounts and bus card were not significant enough to make us think that it was a good value. Much time was wasted in a long, slow moving line at the Tourist Information Office which itself was not quite so easy to locate. Additional time elapsed as we oriented ourselves in the city.

The Barcelona Card was a total waste of money. It did not pay for itself. You would do better taking the Barcelona public bus for one day and getting on and off to view places in Barcelona. See more and not waste so much time and energy.

Restaurants recommended should be in all areas, was not valid for airport bus nor many museums, waste of money.

We are seniors and most places give senior discounts. This card definitely was not worth it for us. We used it for a few subway trips and that was all.

There was little information on how to get on the public transit - as such ended up paying for transportation. Unfortunately, due to long line ups at most museums, was unable to use the card for any other purpose.

On your first trip it is better to take a tour or use the hop-on bus.
