What You Can Expect
Then, visit surreal buildings of one of the world’s most famous architects, Antoni Gaudi. Head to one of his most extraordinary creations, the still unfinished La Sagrada Familia, and stop by Casa Batlo.
See interesting modern buildings like Casa Amataller and Casa Morera on the luxurious shopping strip of Passeig de Gracia. Continue up into the hills to see Gaudi’s lovely urban park, Park Guell, full of multi-colored mosaic sculptures and fairytale houses.
Next, depart Barcelona for a short trip to Montserrat, a nearby mountain, and admire sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Take a walk through the park and learn about Montserrat’s history from your guide, who’ll point out local shops selling cheese and jam.
Reach Montserrat Basilica, where thousands of pilgrims have journeyed over the century. Learn about the legend of the Black Virgin and, if you’re lucky, catch a performance by La Escalonia, the oldest children's choir in Europe. You’ll then return to the Barcelona port to board your cruise ship.

Our tour guide Elizabeth Ellie was very knowledgeable and personable. The van was comfortable but if the sight was on the right side and you were sitting on the left side, you didn't see it. I strongly suggest/urge that when passing the amazing architecture of Gaudi in the city, the van stops and lets everyone out so everyone can see them. I missed Le Pereda simply because I was on the wrong side of the van. We also didn't have enough time to see everything in Park Guell, which I would have liked to do. Perhaps another 20 minutes and we would have seen the rest. Montserrat was spectacular. You really need a full day to see that area.
Montserrat was Magical! Our guide Sylvia was so very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job leading our group. Be warned that the drive is on a winding road so if you are prone to car sickness, you might take a pill. We saw the major sites in Barcelona as well. I do wish we had been given a bit of free time around La Sagrada Familia as there were some great shopping spots and street artists, but I understand we had a lot of ground to cover and there was just not enough time. The day was great and we feel like we got a great first taste of Barcelona!
Our tour guide Nardine was the best we have ever had. He was very accomodating. We learned a great deal about Barcelona and enjoyed his conversation the entire day.
Our guide Cristian was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about Montserrat and Barcelona, and had a lot of interesting information about Gaudi. It was a small group so we were able to maneuver the crowds quickly and got to see more of the area than a large group in a big bus would have.
I highly recommend taking this tour. Christain, our tour guide, was very passionate and knowledgeable !! All of our Viator trips were amazing !
Our guide was superb and so knowledgeable in history.
Thank you very much.
The Montserrat tour was very interesting. We rode the skyride to the top of the hill and got some great shots.
Park Guell was very interesting and different. Lots of room and space is being used up by this creator of different types of buildings, and churches.
I do not believe I have ever seen such a church as the one that is still being worked on without an end-date in sight, because this is what makes it interesting with all the new spires, etc.
Monserrat was fabulous. Tour guide was great. Park Guell was okay.
We were zipped off to a 9 hour tour promptly at 9am. There were 12 of us in the group and we covered a lot of places in the 9 hours. Anna, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and speaks good English. We wished we had more time but it was a quick overview of Barcelona and Montserrat.
The tour was great. We loved Montserrat. Visiting the monastery on Easter Sunday allowed us to see the icon of the Madonna of Montserrat as it was on public display for the Easter Sunday service! The Skip-the Line Park Guell entry pass allowed us more time to enjoy the park and seeing the exterior of La Sagrada Familia Cathedral was amazing. The only thing that would have made this tour even better was if it would have included tickets to see the interior of La Sagrada Familia.
