Barcelona Super Saver: Sitges, Freixenet Cava Wine Cellars and Montserrat Tour
Discover the secret to making cava and admire Spain’s beautiful beaches on this half-day trip from Barcelona! Meet your local guide in central Barcelona and enjoy views of the Catalonia countryside on the drive to the Freixenet cava wine cellars. When you arrive, your guide will share the history of this family-run business and take you to the old cellars to discover how cava wine is made.
Next, board a small train and travel through part of the 12 miles (20 km) of underground cava cellars before arriving at the tasting room, where you’ll taste one of Freixenet’s cavas. After your cava tasting, you may purchase cava if you wish.
Then, head to the quaint coastal village of Sitges, one of Catalonia's most famous destinations. This village enjoys more than 300 days of sun per year and is home to 17 beaches. Take a walking tour through the village and then enjoy some free time to explore on your own. Have lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) before returning to central Barcelona for your afternoon tour.
Montserrat Royal Basilica Tour (afternoon):
In the afternoon, drive through picturesque villages and arrive at the craggy mountain of Montserrat. This mountain has been one of Spain's most important pilgrimage sites for hundreds of years. Visit the Montserrat Royal Basilica, where the 12th-century Romanesque carving of the Virgen Moreneta (the Black Virgin) is located. Enjoy a tasting of four typical Montserrat liquors (included) and learn more details about this location during the audiovisual projection 'Montserrat Inside Closed Doors', at the visitor's center.
Upgrade to include a cog-wheel train ride up the mountain! This once-in-a- lifetime opportunity will take you to an elevation of 4,051 feet (1,235 meters). As you journey along the remarkable rock formations, admire spectacular views over Montserrat that can only be seen aboard the train.

It's nice that the day is broken into 2 parts. morning at the winery and Sitges and then back to the city to head back out to Montserrat. Tour guides were excellent and there was a nice amount of free time. Well worth the money.
