My husband and I did this tour on April 5, 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Aside from some minor difficulties finding the office where we met for the tour, we had zero issues. Our tour guide, Lydia, was fabulous, and she had extensive knowledge of the Catalan and Barcelona history. We were very fortunate to have a spectacular, clear blue sky day and moderate temps for Montserrat. We did the half-day Montserrat/Sagrada Familia tour, but you could easily spend a full day at Montserrat, and I would recommend doing a full day tour, and get an online ticket for Sagrada Familia for a different day. Regardless, we made the very most of the time we had at Montserrat, and Lydia drove us back to Sagrada Familia in time for our entrance there. Sagrada Familia should not be missed!
Put this at the top of your tour list in Barcelona! Our tour guide Nickoli was amazing! Loved him! I always like to get out of a big city when we travel and see the countryside. This was perfect! Just 45 min drive out of Barcelona and just so beautiful! The stories associated with the monetary are so cool and the mountain is just so pretty. We travel each spring and book 3-6 tours with Viators each year for the past 5 years. Tihey are always so good. This is one that you should add to your list. Only negative is that we could have used about one more hour while we were at the mountain to see a few more things. My husband wanted to see the museum but we ran out of time.
We got so lucky. Another couple was supposed to join us but never showed up, so we had Nicholas, our guide and driver, all to ourselves. Viator was really organized and did a wonderful job coordinating our time between Montserrat and La Sagrada Familia.
This trip was the highlight of our holiday in Barcelona. A small group of 5 people in a minibus, with Fabian, an excellent guide, who described every bit of the journey, guided us to the Monastery, and pointed out a short walk from where we could get magnificent views of the surrounding area. Going early in the morning meant that there were no queues, and we had plenty of time.
Also worthwhile getting the skip-the-line tickets to La Segrada Familia, as even in March, the queue was quite long.
Excellent tour! Niko our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and did a great job.
Montserrat was beautiful! Skip the line in Sagrada Familia will save you precious time. Would definitely recommend!
Had a great trip and tour with Veronica. Our group was small, so we got individual attention. Veronica was so knowledgeable, and really provided us with great information and specific details on both Montserrat and La Sagrada.
We were fortunate, as we went to Barcelona in the quiet season, so we were able to visit the Museum, Mary, and walk down into the valley. We sadly missed the Choir but that was due to us enjoying the yummy food in the Cafeteria. Lydia our Tour Guide was superb, she had a warm demeanour, fun outlook and her History knowledge outstanding. Lydia ensured our tour from start to finish was sublime, Thank you Lydia and Monserrat itself was stunning, views from miles around.
Very friendly office staff who spoke english very well. Tour guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly also with great english. Tour was amazing, Montserrat and Sagrada Familia are two places you must see when in Barcelona. So beautiful, so spectacular and so culturely important to the region. Skip the line ticket at the Sagrada Familia is the only way to do it. I can't recommend a visit to both these sites enough and if you are short on time this half day tour is the answer.
We had a wonderful time with our guide. Very knowledgeable of the area and the history. It was very windy at Montserrat the day we went so did not do any outside walking/hiking. The cathedral and museum were very nice. The skip-the-line tickets for La Segrada Familia were great as the line wrapped half way around the building. La Segrada Familia is a very interesting place and the architecture is awesome. Both are a must see when in Barcelona.
This trip was outstanding. The guide/driver, Anna, was excellent. Well worth the money.
We very much enjoyed our tour and Jordy was a great guide. We had ample time for the Sagrada Familia and Jordy gave us a lot of insight on the history. I was also very glad that we toured Casa Batllo on the previous day,one of the homes Gaudi designed. It made seeing his work on Sagrada Familia much more interesting. Montserrat was wonderful and beautiful. We were all glad we went. We ran out of time to go into the museum there and truly wish we had done that. We would have liked to ride the cable car down the mountain too so we would have liked a little more time there. We were so hungry by the time we arrived that we had to stop and grab a quick bite. My suggestion would be to pack a sandwich or snacks to eat on the way there in order to use your time wisely once you arrive.
