What You Can Expect
You’ll also have time to visit the fascinating Museum of Montserrat, with its five collections ranging from Archaeology to the Biblical East to Modern Painting and Sculpture. Or discover the different walking paths on Montserrat. There are routes to suit all tastes and energy levels, from gentle strolls to fairly strenuous treks around the park area. All of the paths allow you to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of this protected natural park. For even more views, take one of the mountain’s two rack railways or the cable car (own expense), or simply savor the vistas from the café.
In the afternoon, leave Montserrat and head to Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, the center of Spain’s cava country. Two of the most famous sparkling wine producers of the Penedes region are Freixenet and Codorniu, and your tour includes a visit to one of their wine cellars, where the staff will show you how the delicious sparkling wine is produced. This will, of course, be accompanied by a tasting so you can find out exactly why cava has acquired such international fame.
This private tour from Barcelona is hosted by a professional guide. Please list any special interests you have (art, architecture, history, culture) at the time of booking to alert your guide, who will then prepare for your private tour.
Great trip with a wonderful tour guide who took us to a place for lunch that only locals know about, and the meal was unbelievable! We would definitely recommend this trip, but make sure you have tennis shoes for the beautiful hike at Monserrat. Our only complaint about the day was the car that our tour guide rented was tiny for all 5 of us and extremely uncomfortable. We expected a different type of transportation. Other than that, it was a full day of great sights and a most memorable day we'll not forget!
Our guide was wonderful, and very informative. He was so friendly, and spoke excellent English. We had a great time, and wished we could have had more time at Montserrat. There wasn't enough time to do everything that was available. We toured the cathedral, and saw the famous boys choir, and took a very quick walk through their museum. We didn't get to take the tram up to the top or walk on the trail, which we were sorry to miss.
The tour of Cordinu winery and their underground caves where bottles are stored was very informative. We were able to taste 2 of their caves at the end of the tour. The grounds are beautiful, and buildings are very pretty.
