What a wonderful day this was. Enrique is an exceptional tour guide. It was great to get out of the city for a day and to experience the beautiful drive to these remote villages, high up in the mountains. The time we had in each village was perfect and Enrique's 1 restaurant recommendation in Rupit was fantastic. Loved it!
The villages are quaint, so the photos are stunning. Great scenery, and drive on a medieval road. If you're lucky...you'll find cows grazing alongside the road.

This was one of our favorite trips in Spain. It was an interesting day, visiting 3 ancient villages. The scenery was beautiful as we drove through part of the Pyrenees Mountains. The photographs taken were actually some of our favorite from our 32 day visit to Spain. Anna was our guide and she was outstanding! She was very professional, knowledgeable, personable and easy going. This excursion is highly recommended, especially if you are interested in medieval history.
This was the best of all the tours we took while on our trip. Philipanue our tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun to tour with. I would highly recommend both the tour and him to everyone.
This tour hit the mark on every level. There were 11 of us, plus the guide and the minibus driver, on this tour - towards the upper end of what I'd expect for a small group tour, but still a very manageable size. The sights we visited were amazing including the brief stops at two very scenic lookouts along the way, the authenticity of the food at the lunch stop fit perfectly with the concept of this tour and the guide was wonderful. Having a very proud Catalonian give an overview of the history of Catalonia and provide context for how each of the sights on this tour fit into that history once upon a time really tied everything together beautifully. Additionally, I thought we had an appropriate amount of time scheduled for each sight - we had plenty of time to explore each village, take pictures and ask questions I don't remember feeling rushed at all. Overall, this was a great tour and was well worth the money. If you are interested in getting outside of Barcelona to explore the countryside and what the rest of Catalonia has to offer, I would definitely recommend this tour.
Lydia was outstanding as our tour guide and driver for the day. She is the most knowledgeable of giudes. Loads of knowledge on Catalunya history and very passionate about her people and Catalunya country. She made the trip enjoyable and provided information on each of the Medieval Villages.
Excellent sites. Tour guide was very subject matter very well. He was well educated and related well to all people on the tour. I especially liked the fact that it was a smaller group.
Highly recommended! Visit to small villages of Besalu, Rupit and Tavertet. Tour ends with the wonderful and panoramic scenery in Tavertet. A nice educational and relaxing tour.
Awesome tour! The guide was very knowledgeable, interesting and funny! The villages were absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this tour!
Sceneries were very pretty. Tour guide was excellent. We enjoyed the drive to cliff tops and seeing eagles flying. Recommend to anyone and very good tour. Value for money.
Our family plus another family rode with Nicholas (Nicho) in a van to three villages steeped in history. Nicho was a good driver, pleasant and extremely well versed on the history of the region and Spanish history. It was a great tour. We would recommend it. One side note, our family was very glad that we took Dramamine (motion sickness prevention) before we left. There are a lot of switchbacks on the way up and down the mountains. The tour gave you the right amount of guided time and personal time. The lunch in Rupit was delicious.
This was a wonderful tour. The medieval villages are mind blowing and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Enjoyable tour of 2 medieval villages. Web says 3 but the third village is not medieval however still a good trip. Besalu and Rupit worth seeing. Good side from Rupit to Tavertet through magnificent country offering beautiful views. Anna was a great guide.
The tour was very well organized. It was definitely worth the drive and the guide was knowledgeable making the experience very pleasant. The pace of the tour was well thought through and we had time for a good lunch and self time for walk around basalu and rupit. The tour guide who was also the driver for the coach was safe and had a pleasant personality. A highly recommended tour.
It was a nice trip outside of Barcelona (nice to spend a day away from all the tourists), and we're glad Viator offered such a tour. We enjoyed a small group setting - easy to get on and off the van and to get to know your guide and fellow travellers. We were a group of 7 (8 including the driver/guide), and our driver/guide was Enrique who had a sense of humour and showed a lot of pride in Catalunya. He's an excellent driver and made sure we were comfortable in the van. He gave us ample time to explore each medieval village (Besalu and Rupit) after he took us on a guided tour into the centre of each village. He was always able to answer any questions we had about Spain, the places we visited on this tour, and about Barcelona and its sights. He was also very considerate - when he discovered I had knee problems, he walked slower so I could catch up and gave me tips on how to get around the winding and uneven surfaces of the villages without hurting myself. He took us to mountain-tops so we can get excellent views of Rupit, and the "mirador" panoramic area of Tavertet so we can see the steep cliffs. The drive throughout was very scenic, and although it rained for most of the day, the entire excursion was very enjoyable.
We loved the small group tour going into the small towns . The scenery on the drive between the towns was absolutely beautiful. Our guide, Anna, was friendly and informative.
This was an excellent trip. Our guide Nico was very good. I liked the idea of going to Tavertet. A small village but very interesting specially the trip there and foremost not crowded with tourists, we were the only ones.
I would recommend this tour with Nico to anybody.
Very enjoyable small group tour. Our driver/guide had a wealth of information about his subject. If any downside it was that we didn't understand the amount of driving involved - but that was our fault. Really enjoyed the day though.
I can't say enough about how wonderful Feliciano was and how this tour maybe the highlight of our trip! Highly recommend! Even 14 and 19 year old teens loved! Feliciano is so knowledgable about the history of all! Villages just were like from a fairy tale !
It is difficult to explain just how spectacular this trip was. The tour group I travelled with is an exceptional outfit, offering only small groups - no enormous buses - and the day felt like a day out with a group of friends. The villages are quite gorgeous, each one more gorgeous than the last. Our guide, Fabian, is a polyglot and very knowledgeable about the social and political history of the towns, and helped make the day the success it was. I hopefully do it again someday.
