What You Can Expect

Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain from Barcelona

Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain Barcelona

Where else but Europe can you visit three countries in one day? After an early start from Barcelona, you’ll be in the Spanish village of Baga by 8:30am, surrounded by the rocky peaks of Cadi-Moixero National Park.

Explore Baga’s central square and medieval church before crossing the border into France in time for breakfast in the walled town of Mont-Louis. After traditional French fare of croissants and café au lait, explore the town’s 17th-century fortified citadel, designed by Vauban and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Leaving Mont-Louis at 11am, you’ll take a scenic drive over the Pyrenees Alps into neighboring Andorra, to the capital Andorra la Vella. Explore Romanesque churches and stone houses in the city’s old quarter, and enjoy lunch in a traditional Andorran restaurant (own expense).

After lunch, you have the choice of hitting Andorra la Vella’s tax-free shops for bargain-priced wine and souvenirs, or hitting the mountain trails surrounding the River Madriu and visiting the Romanesque church of St Miquel d’Engolasters.

The return drive to Barcelona departs Andorra la Vella at 4pm, dropping into Coll de Nargo for a late-afternoon drink en route. Admire Coll de Nargo’s Romanesque church of St Climent and stunning valley views before continuing the drive back to Barcelona, arriving at around 7pm in time for pre-dinner drinks and tapas or whatever else your evening holds.

It takes a lot to make us like being on a tour for 12 hours, but Feliciano and Rapha made the trip fun, educational and enjoyable. Feliciano is a wealth of information and helped us spend the tour bus travel time learning about Spain, its history, politics, products and basically anything we wanted to know about. His friendly and energetic demeanor kept us engaged throughout the trip.
The bus was comfortable despite being full, our co-tourists were a mixture of ages, nationalities and backgrounds and it was a plus to have opportunities to get to know them a little better. The tour planning was very thoughtful, giving us enough breaks in between the driving for nibbles, rest stops and leg stretches.
Our walk through the little Baga in the crisp morning air was perfect - Feliciano did a wonderful job of engaging and nicely herding those of us who were determined to capture every winding street and autumn leaf in photographs. Mont-Louis, though not having very much to see, had an interesting history and several very nice photo opportunities. Andorra is apparently a shopping paradise, but we took our free time to a nice restaurant and enjoyed people watching until it was time to rebound the bus.

All in all, even if you're not a tour person, I would recommend this trip. It was relaxing, interesting and I believe worth the money. And if you're not interested in a 3-country tour, I would recommend contacting the tour company and signing up for any tour that Feliciano leads. You will be so happy to have spent time learning from him!

Very nice. It was an inexpensive and informative way to see new places. The little town of Baga and its history were most interesting. Lovely scenery. Mont Louis was equally as scenic and interesting with its rich history. The breakfast of croissants and hot chocolate was the absolute best. Outside of Andorra la Vella the view of the Pyrenees was breathtaking. The peaks already had a dusting of snow, and it was incredible from a single point to be able to look at the mountains from three different countries, France, Andorra, and Spain. Most memorable. The transportation was in a very comfortable and clean vehicle. It was nice to take a temporary break from the fast paced of a large city.

We really enjoyed our tour - beautiful sights, great guide, and an enjoyable day. Even the extended driving times weren't so bad, because the Catalan countryside is beautiful and there's always something to look at. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. I wish we had more time to explore the architectural aspects of the area, though. Overall, GREAT tour!

The experience was great!! Everything worked perfectly: the nature, the smal towns, the places, in general, we visited have been wonderful, since we left Barcelona until we come back.
The service food and drinks were excellent and, finally, I have to say that Rafael the chofer and Isidro the guide have been so educated, so kind, so responsable and so funny. What else? It was a pleasure!!
I recommend this tour. It was my first time with Viator but, as a traveller I am, for sure I'll get another tour with VIATOR.
Thank you, so much!!!

This is a tour of a small group which is very convenient. This is mostly a sightseeing tour. The mountain view was amazing. The little town of Baga, medieval architecture, was very impresive, so is Mount Louis on the France side. Take a sweater if you go in autumn, the temperature is cold on the mountains. The croissant and coffee served was the best we ever had. Kudos to our tour guide Alexandra. Young lady with a lot of knowledge. Highly recommended.
