Fabulous tour in September. Our guide, Jordi (sp?) was wonderful--he was energetic, receptive to the requests of the group, knowledgeable, and friendly. The drive through the Pyrenees was beautiful. Although I don't think they should remove it from the tour, I did think that Andorra La Vella was a complete tourist trap (I didn't take advantage of driving up to the mountains instead, which I wish I had in hindsight). However, if all you want is to do some duty-free shopping (at not-so-great prices if you're coming from the US), then you will enjoy it. Still, I was glad to be able to scratch one micro-country off my list! If you do stay in Andorra La Vella for lunch, AVOID the Basque place (I think it was called Lizarran)! Terrible food and awful service. Also, a fun little micro-fact about Andorra La Vella: the (one and only) Post Office closes before you get there (and most places do not sell stamps), so if you're thinking about sending post cards, you'll need to buy a pre-stamped envelope for mailing. If you're mailing to the US, you'll need to go into the tourist help center and buy special envelopes there. Just FYI.
Anyway, it was a lovely, educational trip.
Great whirlwind tour of the region - fantastic sights! This tour allowed those in the van an intimate look into the countryside as well as how the culture changes so dramatically from one town to the next. Our tour guide Lydia really made the trip special by sharing the history of the region along the way. With that said, although our tour guide was wonderful, the other members on the tour were not. The day is only going to be as you make of it...and sometimes traveling in a small group with others that get on your nerves makes that difficult. However, with that said, I would still highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a low-stress way to see the countryside.
A really great day tour. Filipo, the driver was a really great driver and historian with a good sense of humour which made for a great day. Beautiful country to travel through
Excellent tour guide, (Phillipo) made our trip well worth the money, and the long drive. Highly recommend this tour.
I absolutely loved this trip. It was informative, fun and just right paced. Our guide Jordi was so knowledgeable and very interactive with all of us. He made sure each of us enjoyed the experience. The places we visited were amazing. I highly recommend this excursion while visiting Barcelona.
Great trip! Terrific tour guide, Fabian! Lots of information on Catalonia, learned so much! Enjoyed the stops in Baga, and MontLouis - beautiful walled villages. Impressive countryside - stone houses, Pyrenees mtns., cattle and horses - just a lovely ride! Did not realize Andorra was such a shopping destination! Fun to see, but could have spent less time there. Cannot say enough good about Fabian - impeccable English, insightful, informative, kept us on schedule but didn't want this to be "a cruise ship schedule. No one gets left behind". Also kudos to the local contact agency - they were great!
Sounds hard to believe, but we were able to visit 3 countries in one day. Nice places we went to, given by our guide Jordi.
Loved this tour. Small group size made for a very personal tour. My guide was lovely. He made sure we all got to see/do what we wanted. He was also very well informed and was able to answer questions. There is quite a bit of drive time on the trip, but I was very comfortable and it was a good chance to get to know other people on the tour and the tour guide. Really glad I went on this tour.
There was no one else on the tour but us. So that was a plus! The tour guide, Jordy, was very friendly and even went out of his way to get our passports stamped in both France and Andorra. I gave him a HUGE tip for doing so. Yes there is a lot of driving but the locations are all worth it. Did some major shopping in Andorra. The little town in Spain was very interesting and cute. Do yourself a favor and take this tour. Oh and the office for the pick up site is on the left hand side if you are facing the Palau de la Música. very difficult to find in the dark.
Great way to see the countryside! Felipo was a great tour guide!!
This was the a great tour. Felipo our tour guide, made it fun and informative. The food and shopping in Andorra was fabulous. Highly recommend it.
We enjoyed the journey through the countryside of France and Spain. The breakfast stop in France was in such a quaint local café and we enjoyed awesome croissants that had been freshly baked! We had lots of time to shop and eat in Andorra. The bargain prices offered in town were worth taking advantage of. Our tour guide was easy to interact with and took us on the scenic route home through beautiful scenery. The historical town we visited gave us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy local culture! Thanks for a terrific day!
