Catalonia is known as one of the country's most celebrated wine regions, boasting 11 different appellations, more than 2,000 years of wine-making history and annual production in excess of 380 million bottles. The region's output also includes cava, a sparkling wine that accounts for around 50% of the total.

Depart from central Barcelona at 8:30am, heading first to Bodegues Jean Leon, a winery located in the center of Spain's Penedès region, for a tour of the facilities and a tasting of two of the group's award-winning wines. Head next to Bodegues Torres, where you'll have a chance to further immerse yourself in the unique wine-making process. You'll also enjoy a tasting of three more wines, accompanied by local Catalonian cheeses. Finish your excursion at Caves Freixenet, where you'll spend some time learning about, and tasting, cava. Discover the process behind cava production and then sample two cavas plus some mouth-watering tapas.

Throughout your day's excursion, your guide will also be available to answer questions and share entertaining tidbits that provide further context and history about this unique wine-making region. Return back to your departure point at the conclusion of the day's activity.

Great tour to get out of the city and sample wine and cava! Jean Leon winery has stunning views, as does Torres. Torres offers cheese with your wine and you get pairing suggestions too. Frexient is a very cool spot to tour...going down into the caves and seeing the facilities was really interesting. Good area to hang out after and enjoy bubbly and snacks too. Everything was kept on track. Overall a very well organized tour and a fun day. HIghly recommend.

Very interesting! We toured two wineries and one cava maker. The samples were very nice, the tour guides at each of the facilities were both informative and interesting. History about each of the facilities was included as well as tours through the processes to show how the final products are created.

Great tour! Very informative, if you're a wine novice. The three wineries were quite different, so it wasn't too repetitive. The wines served we're not top of the line, but that's to be expected for tourist groups. Besides, you can buy whatever wine you want from their selection. Our guide was Mark, who was very helpful and efficient. All in all, great experience, very recommended. Tip: even if you take this tour in summer, bring a jacket...the cellars get quite chilly.

Great day! Our guide Leila was with us all day, and then we had very knowledgable guides at each winery. We were the only group at each location. Surprised at how interesting the big wineries (Torres and Frrixenet) were. Great commitment to sustainability. Could buy extra tastes. Good snacks!
