The weather forecast for late May was grim, but we had some sunshine and our Maori boat captain kept us thoroughly entertained on this tour through some extraordinary islands.
We had a great cruise. The pilot was excellent in explaining the history of each island as we headed to the "Hole in the Rock". He had a great sense of humor and he was speaking distinctly over the intercom. The weather was sunny and warm and we had a number of great photo ops. The sea was a bit too rough to navigate through the hole but we were able to get very close to it for photos. A great value compared to what we would have had to pay if we had booked a similar cruise through our cruise liner.
Was very good. Enjoyed it a lot. The captain was very knowledgable and the sights were beautiful
Awesome weather and a great informative and jovial captain made the trip special
First tour we booked in NZ - fabulous - over 3 full hours and yes we did go through the rock. Pleasant suprise to find out we could be dropped off at Russell on the return journey and were given a free ferry ticket back to Pahihia. Also requested pickup from campsite at short notice. No probs.
Excellent - well organised, and as with all NZ tourist activities - on time!. whole experience was enjoyable from seeing two schools of dolphins to sailing through the hole in the rock to stopping on one of the islands to explore and have a lunch break. Would recommend without hesitation
great trip. Staff friendly, helpful, and informative.
Photographer does a great photo booklet.
Scenery spectular, ocean rough on this day but made it all the more memorable..
We were scheduled to arrive by cruise ship via tendered boats. The seas were so rough that the tender boats could not be deployed. Sadly, we missed the tour, but I wanted to advise potential customers that we received a full and prompt refund following one email request.
Everyone visiting New Zealand should take this tour Very informative. Crew very pleasant, helpful and informative. Was overcast but fine. On a sunny day magical would describe the experience. Today was wonderful
Great boat and staff explaining the area and sea life. We were able to see dolphins on our tour, but no whales (even though there was an Orca apparently in the area). We took the tour in September. I suggest getting there early to line up to get a seat on the outer seats of the top deck. Those are the best seats for taking pictures. Beautiful area for a boat cruise!
All I can say is what a great trip. Saw fur seals and a pod of dolphins with their young. It was calm enough for us to travel through the hole in the rock and to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Hopped off in Russell which was a beautiful small town that at one point was the islands' capital. A must do adventure.
