What You Can Expect

Beijing Classic Full-Day Tour including the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven

Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square

Your full-day tour starts at Tiananmen Square to explore China's more recent history, influenced by Chairman Mao and the rise of communism. From there it's on to the Forbidden City, built by Emperor Yong Le during the Ming Dynasty, and the seat of power for centuries. It has seen countless battles and reconstruction, and the architecture seen today dates from the 1700s. The Forbidden City is also known as the Imperial Palace Museum, with the history of every dynasty represented in four palatial halls.

After a delicious lunch, it's on to the Temple of Heaven, China's largest temple and altar complex. This extraordinary example of religious architecture dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Your final destination is the Summer Palace, the retreat of emperors for 800 years. One of Beijing's finest parks surrounds the palace, and you'll be able to explore the grounds, temples and the world's longest art gallery.

Our guide, Jacky, was very enthusiastic and proud of his Chinese history. As well as the listed places to visit we also went to a silk factory genuine silk and a pearl market. we also had a plentiful Chinese lunch. All these places were very interesting and well worth seeing. There were just 9 people on this tour which made it very personal.

An excellent tour despite the early start! Our guide, William, was helpful, informative and fun to be with. We were a group of 3 and the only ones on the tour so he had plenty of time to give us lots of information about the places we visited. He spoke excellent English and willingly took lots of photos of us so we have memories of our trip. I thoroughly recommend this tour as a great way to see the major sights in Beijing.

Great tour. Mr. Li in an excellent guide. He knows all it is about Beijing and the excellent places included in this one really busy day! I would recommend not to stop on the shops, there is plenty of opportunities to buy at the pearl market and other places. The tour would be dedicated specifically to visit historic places. I totally recommend the tour and Mr. Li. It was a great experience!!

I ended up doing 3 tours while in Beijing and this was by far my favorite. The stories the tour guide gave were just amazing and often hilarious and I'll be recounting many of them once I return home. The stories really make the sites come alive. I also enjoyed getting to see how silk is made and learn about fresh water pearl making.
