Tour guide Cynthia was tops. She was knowledgeable, and fun to be with. Picked us up at the stated time, and from there had a great time. Great Wall is magnificent - and her historical knowledge enhanced the experience. Tombs were spectacular, as was the Jade Factory. Great lecture about Jade. The craftsmen and women working there were fascinating. The tea tasting was a treat --- an all around great day. Cynthia made the Beijing visit worth every penny.
I had an Absolutely amazing experience! William was a fantastic tour guide walking with me up there rather than getting the cable car and also conquering his fear of tobogganing to go with me :-
This was a highlight of the trip. I still can't believe the personal attention we got and how reasonable the price was. We had one guide for the two of us and a driver and sedan all day. The guide was very informative and with us all the time, except for lunch which was a very good Chinese lunch in a small local restaurant. We paid extra well worth it for a cable car ride to the top of the Mutianyu Great Wall, which is much less crowded than many other touristy portions of the Great Wall near Beijing. Then, we made the climb to the top and spent about and hour hiking on the wall and taking remarkable photos with our guide with us the whole way.
The Ming Tomb was remarkable and the tour was timed to be there for a daily ceremony.
There were two stops at a Jade Factory and another factory, but no pressure to buy.
I highly recommend this tour. The guide and the driver were really nice, fluent English and really kind to help us with any requests. The day started with a visit to a typical bronze ceramic factory where you can learn and also buy stuff. The Great Wall was amazing and the scenery at Mutianyu is really nice. Lunch was provided and included typical Chinese dishes in a jade factory. The day ended visiting a tea store where you can have a tea ceremony and buy some souvenirs. Thanks Michael for your help.
Awesome trip...definitely worth the value! And to top it all off, our tour guide, Cherry and her driver were first rate!
Brilliant tour, our guide Jason was very informative and spoke very good English. The section of wall at Mutianyu is truly amazing as is the chair lift to get up there.
Very interesting visit to the Ming Tomb complex and an excellent Chinese lunch in a good quality restaurant. The air conditioned car was very comfortable and the driver was good. Thank you.
Went solo on this tour as I had just enough time at the end of my business trip.
Perfect Service and Great Tour! Would recommend this tour for anyone that wants a one day tour to see both the Great Wall in the hills of Mutianya and the Ming Tomb (Zhu Di). Jason was a perfect guide, excellent English, very Knowledgeable on the history of these sites and a great conversationalist. The toboggan ride is was a great way to go back down from the Wall site!
This was a wonderful day - the private tour was worth the extra cost. Our tour guide was excellent, full of information, spoke excellent English, and got us started early so we could avoid the crowds. The toboggan ride down from the wall was an unexpected bonus! We had about 1 hour and 40 minutes on the wall then went on to tour the Ming Tombs. The included lunch was OK, nothing great, and was at the jade factory. Overall a great day!
We were picked up from our hotel right on time. We had booked a group tour, but ended up with a private tour just for me and my husband. Our tour guide was very friendly and full of information about the sites we visited and about life in Beijing today. Our driver was excellent and skillfully maneuvered the traffic on the crowded streets and roads. The tour guide suggested that we go to the Great Wall at Mutianyu first, early in the morning and it was good that we did. As we were leaving the crowds were gathering and the lines were long. We were there during "Golden Week" and people were every where. The cable ride at Mutianyu is an experience not to be forgotten.
Good guide give us a lot of imformations about China. Cable car up and slide down from the wall - fantastic. Very scenic part of the wall. Very good lunch.
This wall is really something to see. Make sure you go to Mutianyu as it is not so touristy or crowded as other parts. We went up by chairlift and down by toboggan. Hardly any other people where we were. Our guide Jackie Li was fantastic. Do the private tour it is definitely worth it.
This was a great tour. The Wall was amazing. Because we went early in the morning there were very few people. It was refreshing to be away from the crowds. The slide down the wall was my son's favorite part of our entire trip. Don't miss it! The Ming Tombs were a bit disappointing. There wasn't much to see at the place we went to. We did not go to the Sacred Way. I would not recommend this to others. We also really enjoyed the tea ceremony at the end of the trip. We learned about the different kinds of teas and brought some wonderful packages back for souvenirs. Our guide was Michael. He was very informative and flexible with us throughout the day.
The only way to go is a private tour even though the guides still walk too fast
The guide was on time to pick us up from the hotel and ensured that we were on the wall early. There was hardly anyone else there and it was a lovely tour to a quieter part of the wall. The guide and driver were helpful and provided a good tour. It was a shame that we were pressured in to going to the Jade Factory and Tea shop. The tea shop was quite pressurised and staff could be 'offish' if you were didn't want to purchase anything. Apart from that a very good tour!
The tour was exceptional. We truly enjoyed the Great Wall and got to hike a really nice section of the wall. I had done a previous tour at Badaling - and this section is much more open, easier to climb and offers superior views. I took this tour during the National Day holiday and the traffic was horrible. We went through the countryside to avoid traffic and I would NOT recommend that. Other than that, it was a good experience and well worth the money spent.
I had Michael as a tour guide. He was very nice and speaks fluent English. Be advised that Michael will bring you in front of the wall but doesn't go with you up there unless you pay the entrance fee for him. I spent two hours in the wall then we headed to the Ming tombs. We only saw one tomb, the biggest one. That's the only one included in the tour. I was told that the Sacred Way is not included which I regret it.
I found it a bit uncomfortable at first because it was me and my daughter and our guide was a male and I didn't realise we were only going with him and his driver. He was very nice informative once we started chatting. A bit scary at times with the driving. But apart from that it was the was ok.
A good day; seemed a little dear but saw nothing (trustworthy!) cheaper anywhere, not even from the hotel tour desk. Great to see the Wall. You wouldn't have time to walk up and back so the cable car is a necessary extra - 80yuan return trip and you choose cable or luge back down. We did the luge back down - and you can control the speed downhill yourself so it is fun, give it a go! Jason was our guide, very nice man and did a good job. Car and driver good. Lunch was fine with lots of dishes; the jade factory was interesting. Only disappointment is the fact that you can't actually go inside the excavated tombs, its just the above ground building with some of the relics inside. So the "underground Palace" isn't open to the public at all. A good day out, recommended.
Our guide was just so-so. He did not go to the wall with us, instead sat in the car and waited. He did not provide much information - was more a translator for the driver of the van. We had much better luck when we hired a private guide the following day.
We only spent about 20 minutes on the wall. All they were worried about was getting us to the various souvenir shops to pressure is into buying something. We had booked in advance hoping to avoid that but we would have been better off getting a cheap tour on China.
We booked a private tour in order to have flexibility, and found that our guide appeared to have a different view of the day. Our visit to the Great Wall was set at a mere 2 hours, while we could have spent much longer there.
We felt rushed, for no reason other than the fact that we were booked for a HORRIBLE lunch at the Jade Factory, where a sales person (who was very sick) followed my every step through the store in an attempt to sell us junk. We did not ask to visit the Jade factory and felt the high pressure sales approach was very inappropriate.
We would have loved to have spent more time visiting the Spirit Way.
Our guide gave us a choice to visit a tea house or a silk factory on the way home. We chose the silk factory, and again felt pressured to make a purchase. BTW, we did buy a "king" size comforter, which turns out to be no more than a full to queen size.
All in all, our guide was well spoken and knowledgeable. Had we confined our activities to touring, it would have been a great day. BTW, Our only bad meal in the entire trip was had during this tour.
The tour operator had misplaced our booking so had to scrambled on the morning to find someone to take us. Theguide and driver didn't arrive till 9.15am, some 1 and a 1/2 hours late. By this time peak hour traffic had arrived so we didnt arrive at the Great Wall till 11am. The guide only wanted to give us 1 hour but I told him to forget the Jade Museum and tea ceremony so we stayed at the wall till I decided, which annoyed the guide but always felt pressured. Not a good experience, very disorganised for the money we paid.
