Berlin Bike Tour

Berlin Bike Tour

Understand all facets of Berlin in one bike tour: Berlin's founding, the Prussians, Weimar Republic, Hitler and the Third Reich, as a city divided by the Wall during the Cold War, and the Berlin of today. Tours begin with a brief introduction to Berlin before hopping on the bikes. You will stop every couple hundred yards (meters) to talk about the sights and for photo opportunities. Along the way you will stop at a beautiful beer garden where you can experience Berlin as the locals do!

Berlin Bike Tour Highlights:

  • Alexanderplatz
  • Marx/Engels Platz
  • Palast der Republik (former DDR Parliament)
  • Museum Island
  • Checkpoint Charlie
  • Berlin Wall
  • Potsdamer Platz
  • Site of Hitler's bunker
  • Deathstrip watchtower
  • Brandenburg Gate
  • Ride along the Spree River and through the Tiergarten Park
  • Siegessaeule (Victory Column)
  • Gendarmenmarkt
  • Bebelplatz (site of Nazi book-burning)

Itinerary

Safety:
Because there is so much to see in Berlin and this city is so bike friendly, simply the best way to see this city is by bike. The tour takes advantage of the many bike paths the city offers - more than 95% of the tour is on bike paths and through parks. When you do ride on the streets, ride along the less-traveled roads. All insurance is included.

Bikes:
Ultra-hard seats? Razor-thin tires? Not on this tour! With new curvy beach cruisers these bikes are the pinnacles of city-biking comfort. With cushy seats, fat tires and handlebars that come up to meet you, it just doesn't get more relaxed. Of course these bikes perform as well. There are vice-like brakes to make sure you stop quickly. And with multiple gears, you can choose your level of pedal-pushing effort (all bikes also come with fun bells and unique names making these quite possibly the coolest bikes on the planet).

Weather:
Ride rain or shine. The weather in Berlin can vary quickly, so you may want to bring a light jumper or rain jacket. The bikes come equipped with bike racks if you don't need to wear it. Also, a limited number of gloves and rain jackets are available, but again, it's better to be on the safe side and plan ahead.

Regardless if this is your first trip to Berlin of if you already feel like "ein Berliner", this is a great way to see the city and understand what makes Berlin so special. Here are just some of the many reasons why:

  • Berlin is a very flat, bike-friendly city and our tours take advantage of this by riding almost exclusively on bike paths and less-traveled roads.
  • You'll stop every few hundred meters to discuss the sights, so tours aren't the least bit strenuous.

This was an excellent tour. So much fun and we learnt so much of Berlin's crazy history. Kieron was a brilliant guide. Lovely bloke and his knowledge was incredible. Lunch at the bier garten was awesome! We only had 10 people in the tour which was excellent too.

We had a great bike tour! We went last Friday and it was really nice. Our guide Cairn was superb. He was very knowledgable and told us LOTS of information. He went by many attractions and explained them all very well. We went to a great place for lunch! I would totally recommend and definitely do another tour with this company.

This tour made our trip. It was hosted by the local bike tours and we booked another one to Potsdam for the following day. This company is great! It made our trip to Berlin exciting since otherwise as tourists, knowing no locals we would have otherwise walked aimlessly through the city. The guide was very knowledgeable and nice. He explained everything we saw and answered all our questions. The place they took us for lunch was beautiful and the food was gourmet even though it was inside Tiergarten Park. Imagine a park with a super nice outdoor restaurant. Our tables were previously reserved by the company and we got to meet new and interesting people from all over the world. 4 hour tours are the best way to get to know and understand idiosyncrasies of a city. Both tours were given by American English speaking people, some raised in the USA but native Germans and other expats. The rest of the tour guides were from other countries but everything was in English. I highly recommend you book more than one tour on your trip to Berlin.

This bike tour is a must! Superb. Myself and my 15 yr old son took this tour with the bike tour company in Berlin taking us to all the major sites in Berlin including parks and places I didn't know existed. We got to see another side to the city. Our tour guide Andrew was excellent, he had amazing knowledge of the city and its history. We cycled for about 5 hours and stopped for lunch at a fabulous beer garden. Berlin is flat so we found the cycling fine, though you probably need to be quite fit. We got to meet others on the tour from all over the world. Everyone was made feel welcome. The highlight of our stay in Berlin!

The local tour company's bike tour was an excellent way to see all important tourist places in Berlin. My guide Simon was very nice in explaining the history behind each place and sharing interesting tidbits. Seeing Berlin on a bike seems perhaps the best way to tour the city.
