We had some difficulty finding where to validate our tickets for this - it would have been much better if we could have downloaded a valid ticket from the net. We were also surprised to find that the tour buses did not start until 10am - when we are on a short city break we like to start early, it would not be unreasonable for the buses to start at 9am. By the time we had validated the tickets etc a lot of the day had passed so I felt we missed out somewhat. The TV tower was ok, but again we queued up only to be sent back to the entrance to have our tickets validated. The tower was very busy and crowded but the view was very good - the glass of champagne that goes with the ticket - the barman very grumpily told us it was not champagne - however it was a pleasant glass of sparkling wine.
Would have been better if we had not had to travel to Kurfurstendamm (starting point), this cost us 13 Euros. A lot of overcrowding on the bus, which destroyed the concept of a hop on, hop off facility..
The sound system on the buses was often interrupt, hence one could hear no commentaries, which in general were too short and not rich with information. I simply expected more, since i've had better in Barcelona and London.
Many of the upper-deck windows did not open, making it hard to take nice pictures.
Bus stops are not marked, making one run several times for 50-200m to catch the next bus.
The "Skip the LIne Entry to TV Tower" is a bit problematic. You need to purchase the ticket from the Hop on Hop Off tour operator which is located the opposite end to the city to the Tower. The tour starts at 10am and there is no way the bus will reach the Tower before 11am as you only have an hour to take advantage of the Tower ticket. We ended up having to get off the bus and catch the metro to the Tower, only just clocking in at 10.59am.
The Hop On Hop Off Tour in Berlin is NOT good. The Bus just takes you in one direction. It does not ply in reverse so if missed out something then you have to take another round that two hours again. The price does not justify the tour. There are many much cheaper and better options available. However TV Tower is worth watching. But Viator is good.
Good open bus tour that allowed us to see the city. However, the Skip the Line Entry at the TV tower never happened. We had to wait in line and we did not get a drink when we got up there.
The tower viewing was a nice idea for the tour and i enjoyed it but then all went wrong. sometimes when travelling it's not possible to print out some details and even though i had all my confirmation on my blackberry, it wasn't accepted. What about going green? Also before that no buses would take me on, because none of them were the carriers. The website didn't indicate where are the hop on and off points and i had to go wondering around the city. After 30 mins trying, I just gave up and explored it on feet or local transport.
The Bus Tour was great, just flashed the ticket and hopped on. BUT the people at the TV tower knew nothing of this offer.
So no skipping of queues and no champagne. I even had to ask them to photocopy the ticket as they wanted to keep it, which would have left me without a bus-tour ticket. Bus = 10/10. TV Tower = 1/10.
Skip the line was not an advantage as there was no queue when we went (last week in November). By the time we had found where we were supposed to go when we got in we could have bought a ticket at the ticket booth and gone up the Tower quicker. The views and coffee in the revolving restaurant made up for it. Hop on/off tour ok, a good way to get an overview of the City.
The buses did not run as scheduled. One bus driver left without picking up a single passenger. The skip the line entry to the TV tower deal doesn't exist. Stood in a different line that was longer than the ticket line and slower!
I wouldn't recommend buying the tour bus ticket from here... At least 4 buses rejected us and kept saying we need to get the next bus as there were various tour operators working in the same place..Would have been easier to purchase at the bus stop... It's very very confusing..!
The sky tower worked out well as we skipped the line but the night view was disappointing and we were unable to take photos due to the reflection of the windows...
Very disappointed with this!
Ps the bus tour is great- just not via viator
Not very good I'm afraid to say....
The buses are really full and often they just cram as many people on board as there is standing at the stop. That means your audio part of the tour doesn’t happen. The tour does drive along the tourist route but frankly you would be better off taking a taxi
We had a bad experience because when we went to the TV Tower first thing in the morning, they took our tickets. However, the tickets were also for the hop-on-hop-off bus. The TV Tower employee eventually agreed to photocopy the ticket for us so we would have something to show the bus driver. My advice would be to print two copies of the tickets.
I was not at all satisfied with the bus tour. The points to obtain the actual tickets were NOT available online. I was staying miles from KuDam.
Just as bad, the buses came very infrequently---much longer wait time than the
other tour buses. I would not book with Viatour
