Great tour! Insight that only real berliners have. I highly recommend it for those who want to know how the life was for east berliners under the soviet regime AND afterwards. Mike was entertainging and kept it fresh during the four hours, which went by really quick! . See and understand the details that otherwise might get missed.- Thanks Mike and the whole crew.-
Excellent tour, I can only recommend for everybody who wants to learn about one of the darkest decades of the European modern history. Our tour guide, unfortunately I do not remember his name, was German born, American raised person who was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Europe, including East Germany GDR Berlin and the former communist countries and teh Cold War era. Thank you.
A great tour - delivered on our expectations and more. Michael was an excellent, eloquent guide answering all questions and his delivery and style made this a fun and informative tour.
With a great guide, Jessie who was filled with a wealth of information, this was a fantastic way to see many of the city's East/West sites and take in the history of the wars and conflicts that took place in both Berlin and Germany. Highly recommend!
Our guide Jan was informative and humorous and, bless him, got us out of trouble with a tram inspector after we had purchased the wrong ticket. Jan showed us everything of importance and provided interesting commentary along the way. He was patient and allowed the group the time to take photos. We didn't miss a thing! This was a great tour and well worth the money.
See my review on the Final Days of WWII. Absolutely brought the WWII times to life for all of us.
Guide Yan was punctual for the start of the tour. He was knowledgeable, witty and humorous. He made the tour entertaining and informative. Yan offered us the choice of taking us back to our pick up point or giving us 1/2 hour extra. We had the 1/2 hour extra. He ensured we were at a point where we could easily get back to our pick up point.
Excellent tour with a very special guide, michael. He was educating us through the entire tour telling us real stories from the people of Berlin stating their opinion on the wall and other aspects of that time. That was the most interesting thing for me because you can have an all around perspective of that era. I strongly recommend this tour as you are going to learn a lot of things you never heard before about the history of Berlin.
One of the best tours I've ever done. Our guide Michael was fantastic. He had an extraordinary knowledge of the era and a very engaging personal manner.
In my 5 years of taking tours throughout Europe, Barnaby was by far the best tour guide I have ever had! The Cold War walking tour of Berlin was very informative with the right amount of humor thrown in.
Excellent!! Excellent! Would give it 6-stars if i could!
Interesting and fun! A lot of stories that makes you feel you were there :
Tarek was our guide and gave an excellent tour - it was very interesting to visit many areas relating to the cold war and to hear more about what really happened here at that time. Checkpoint Charley was not included in the tour - but we visited it the day before on our other tour.
Great tour! Ron was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a real pleasure to learn from. Whilst the tour focused on Cold War history, it actually covered much more than that and at the end of the five hours (ran over a tad...!) we had a much greater understanding of Berlin's history. Recommend!
This tour was great! Loved the guide - she kept us fully engaged for the whole tour- Ashleigh was able to give us facts and figures and showed her passion for here! We enjoyed her tour so much we changed plans for next day so we could go on another tour with her- as did a couple of others!
Great, great tour. Worth every minute. If you are at all interested in history this is a great way to spend a few hours. Our guide was Barnaby and he knows his history and how to explain it to non-historians. He will tell you how Karl Marx and a banana shortage in Nov 1989 are related. You see all the major Cold War places and understand at the end how silly and tragic the whole splitting of Germany and Berlin really was. They have other tours as well. We took the Potsdam tour the next day and that was a hit as well. Do it!
Our tour guide Michael was very knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommended!
The guide on this tour was wonderful He came fully prepared with pictures and an ipad. He was really enthusiastic and intersting It was a bit long but was most informative.
Our guide Michael did an excellent job setting the scene and subsequently taking us on the tour. His knowledge and delivery were second to none :-).
A great tour, very highly recommended!
Brilliant tour exceeded what we expected. In depth knowledge and stories of the Cold War. Would totally recommend it to anyone interested in the Cold War and East/West Germany conflict.
Amazing tour, our tour guide, Tarek, was interesting and passionate about not only the Cold War History but also keen to help us see and experience the modern Berlin. Thoroughly recommend this amazing tour!
