My husband was a little hesitant about this, but the pilot and the staff was great and very informative. It was a beautiful day with very little cloud coverage. We fly close to the crator and were able to see the lave slowly flowing. We also fly along the coast and observed several whales, one with a baby. Also we saw a pod of dolphins and what the pilot said was a shark.
great ride, got to see lava and snow! which was crazy. plus we saw lots of whales while flying up the coast line. the only con was that you get a little bit sick because the helicopter is always dipping and turning.
I cannot say enough about this tour. Thank you Koji (pilot) and Michelle (guest coordinator) for an amazing experience. We saw the Big Island from a diffent view point. We saw molten lava, amazing waterfalls, whales and the most amazing views. Worth every cent.
An incredibly great and very memorable experience! It is, of course, in many ways dependent on weather conditions. However, our pilot Dan always called ahead to get weather updates and was able to make modifications in the flight plan. His ground crew, the other two Dans, were also very helpful in the flight preparation, and in the post flight photo session! Thanks to Dan, Dan, and Dan of the helicopter operators. They did their duties...and they did them well!... :-)

We winged our way
by means of jet-powered flights,
to escape Michigan’s wintry cold,
seeking sun, sand, and surf,
wondrous warmth, balmy winds,
miraculous flora and fauna,
soothing sounds and sights,
the treasures of dreamily tropical delights…
exotic aromas, secretive smells,
taunting, teasing, tempting
fine fragrances of myriad colorful blossoms…
We sailed and soared at incredible heights,
easily overcoming continental and oceanic differences in time…
leaping over enormous distances in space…
We landed at Kona…
to experience Hawaiian hospitality…
the joys, challenges, and memorable adventures
of a shared family vacation…
to sample tasty treats and liquid libations
of the local cuisine…
and to leave temporary footprints
in soft sands…on beautiful beaches…
until washed away once again
by blue waters with perpetually rolling
and rhythmically undulating waves…
of the vast Pacific Ocean…
resulting in dramatic effects
of crashing surf…
dashing and splashing
on massive volcanic rocks
along curvy coasts and shores.
Footprints in the sand
are symbolic of our human existence…
which is temporal at best…
with the passage of time
fast and fleeting…
So, in order to leave
a lasting impression
our daily deeds done
must be purposeful, positive,
principled, and passionately peaceful…
Come see these wondrous vistas in Paradise...

I would recommend this trip to everyone. It was awesome. We did take the Blue Hawaiian in Hilo over the volcano and that was good. But this trip over the volcano and by the waterfalls was way better. The price is worth it. When we come back, we will probably take this trip again. I loved it. Ask for Marcus he was our Helicopter pilot, he was awesome. Thanks to the tour operator for the great trip within the island. We saw so much stuff.
We had an excellent flight with our pilot Koji! He rocks! I would suggest this company and tour to anyone who wants a beautiful, breathtaking view of the Big Island! We had a great view of the activity over the volcanos and also the waterfalls in the Valley! Thanks Paradise for our memories!
What an awesome way to discover the beauty of the Big Island! My wife and I drove around the island the day before to view the geological and biological differences that the island has to offer. Then took this tour the next day! What a perspective! Well worth your time! The pilot was informative and skilled in his craft!
The helicopter tour was a perfect start to our trip and a great way to see the water falls! Our pilot was funny, knowledgeable and just made our experience that more special! If you never been to the Big Island, I would highly recommend seeing it from the sky!
I went on this tour with my mother-in-law and we choose preferred seating. It was a good option for me as I'm smaller and everyone else was large, I would have ended up in the middle of the seat. This is a truly wonderful way to see the island and the volcano. Our pilot was very informative and the ground crew were great too. The views are spectacular.
After several days of going back and forth and wondering if I wanted to spend the money for this tour, I signed up and reserved a space on the helicopter. Wow...it was so worth the money! I went on the first flight out in the morning (8:00am) and while I don't like to set the alarm while on vacation, I recommend going this early. The weather was perfect and we were lucky enough to see many volcano hot spots and several waterfalls. The pilot even spotted two whales so we were able to fly over them to get a good view of them playing! In summary, I totally recommend this tour. Definitely worth the money spent!!!!
Wonderful trip - well worth it! It's the only way to really see the volcano now with the lava flowing the direction it currently is. The pilot was great about letting all have a great view. The trip to the waterfalls not visible any other way was a special treat.
This was an amazing experience! Beautiful views, and the best way to see the glowing lava of the volcano, and several waterfalls. Our pilot Koji was fantastic. From the start, we felt that we were in expert hands! He gave us a smooth ride and was very informative. People have mentioned motion sickness: none of us felt the slightest, and a couple of our party of four easily do feel queasy otherwise. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone. It is pricey, but an experience of a lifetime!
Absolutely topnotch from start to finish. Ground crew knowledgeable and friendly. Pilot clearly committed to his passengers seeing lava and later the W. Valley sites as well. You should go.
Enjoyed every minute of this flight. The best way of seeing the volcanoes.
Best way to see the natural beauty of hte Big Island. Informative dialog with the pilot. Thoughtful approaches to the sights. Only way to see the lava at present and only way to see the large stuningly beautiful waterfalls. However, you should bear in mind that the tour opperator dosen't control the weather and cloud cover is often unpredicatable. Generally ealier seems better than later, but there is no guarantee either way.
So amazing! The pilot was awesome and super informative, casual and friendly. He made sure that both sides of the helicopter saw the scenery. We saw red lava and got up close to waterfalls all along the coast. This is the best (and only) way to see much of the Big Islands beautiful scenery. A must for any trip to Kona!
An amazing experience - it was the highlight of our trip.
If you suffer even mildly with motion sickness, then I would strongly recommend taking something before the trip!
Great views from lava flows to waterfalls. Piloft was super informed and skilled.
Great trip! Smooth flight, lots to see and learn. Very knowledgable and professional pilot made this excursion a highlight of our first trip to Hawaii. I highly recommend Paradise Helicopters!
I'm SOOOOO glad I took this tour...ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!
The Big Island is SOOO BIG and has something to offer EVERYONE! And, some of the island's most beautiful areas can only be experienced from above!
I only had 2-days to spend on the Big Island, so I decided to take this tour immediately upon arriving. I figured that based upon what I found interesting on the tour, I could determine where I'd like to spend the remainder of my time. This was a GREAT way to make the most of my time.
I'd HIGHLY recommend this tour...HIGHLY!
Got to see flowing Lava! Awaesome! Paradise Helicopters is great!!
Excellent from pickup at hotel to organisation of taxi on departure the staff were friendly and competent. The trip itself was spectacular and made even better by the extremely competent pilot who was both informative about the places seen and considerate of the passengers by preparing them in advance for maneuvers made by the helicoptor.
