This was a very long but fascinating tour. The sights and driver were very interesting and entertaining. I'd say this is more of an adult tour, as young children and teens may quickly lose interest. The amount of time spent at each stop was definitely adequate, and I felt it was worth the money. We definitely gained a lot of insight into the island and gained a deeper understanding of earth science. I'd try to sit on the right side of the bus (the passenger side), if given the chance to redo one thing because that side had better oceanic views.
We had a very informative tour guide and the day was very interesting
Amazing! A must when visiting the Big Island so you can see all it has to offer!
Great tour of the Big Island without you driving and looking for the landmark stops. Our driver John took care of us for the 12 hour trip. John educated us as well as showed us everything around the island. The tour includes stops in the morning at a Kona Coffee store, black sand beach, Kailua Town for lunch (on your own but food was good) then on to the Volcano National Park and Jagger Museum. We saw smoke but no lava flows from the viewing area but walked through a lava tube (like a cave). We went to Hilo for a stop at a macadamia packaging place for snacks. We went to falls in Hilo then a long drive along the east and north coasts back to Kona area. Greatest way to spend one day viewing the entire island. We had a rental car but wanted this tour early on our visit to get a bearings on the areas to view. Highly recommend this tour.
Tour guide, Hilary, was great, very informative, and helpful, loved him. He kept the tour going with wonderful historoy, folk stories and legends, and up to day information about the Big Island. When we went back to places we wanted to spend more time at his information made our own tour enhanced. We love history and that we had on this trip as well as where all the good food and snacks, oh of course the clean bathrooms, are.
We rented a car but decided to take this tour our first day to get oriented and plan what we wanted to return to see. We got to see so much more than we expected. Sea turtles sun bathing on the black sand beach, Volcano National Park, walking through a lava tube and the vast and varied landscape. It certainly saved us a lot of gas wandering around and missing so much. We definitely recommend this trip if you plan to rent a car and especially if you don't!
A great experience, great guide who was very knowledgable, we got to see everything we wanted and more without having to worry about getting lost if we were to drive ourselves.
This was well worth the time, 12 hours. Our guide Hilary, was wonderful giving so much information about the island.
John was the most informative tour guide ever! He provided dates, great stories and knew history, plants
Etc. of the island. Very interesting and informative. The tour with John was definitely the highlight of our trip.
The your went to every destination we'd wanted to visit...highly recommend
Excellent tour guide, Rick is very informative and knowledgeable of the Big Island. Great way to sample the island if you do not have much time or not planning to drive around.
The tour guide gave lots of information and was funny also, this was great to do in the beginning so we could see where to go later in our trip.
Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgable about the island! If you only have a short time it is a great tour to see the island :)
We had a fantastic day with Cousin Greg. A really friendly, knowledgeable guide who was happy to answer any questions and even threw in some comedy.
A great way to see the whole island, didn't find any of the stops boring. Spent approx 2 hours in the volcano National Park which was amazing, highlight of the trip. Such beautiful scenery and a really good group of people.
We had the opportunity to ride with Tommy on the 26th of December, 2014; and thanks to him our trip was more enjoyable than we could have possibly expected. He knew so much about the island, it's history, and other bits of trivia that really made the trip fun! His knowledge of volcanic geology and history on the island was incredible! To some it may have been overload but to us he is this vast well rounded source of wonderful island information. We found ourselves quoting Tommy days after the tour! We went back to many places on our own to experience longer the places he pointed out to us. Thank you Tommy for making such a great contribution to the success of our Christmas vacation in Big Island!
This was an outstanding tour!!! Tommy, our tour guide, was full of knowledge which made the trip that much more enjoyable. This was a GREAT way to see Hawaii!!!
This was a great tour and the tour guide, Cousin Greg, was very informative. The bus was quite comfortable. The price of the tour was excellent compared to other tours we have taken around the world. We learned alot about the island and saw thing we probably would have missed if we drove the island by ourselves
This was an absolutely wonderful experience. Don't miss it! Our driver named Sal was so knowledgeable of the Big Island history. Nine stops from the volcanoes, coffee plantation, nut factory etc. Caution, it is a very long day. It is very difficult to take pictures out the bus windows because of the mirror reflections from the other side. Click quick from straight ahead! Would do it again in a heartbeat.
The informative trip was a wonderful way to see the entire island. The time flew by as we got on and off frequently to explore the sights of the island. The bus driver was awesome and knew all about the Hawaiian culture and it was a great value for your buck.
The tour was awesome. The driver was very informative, friendly and funny. It's more than any one individual could see or cover in an eleven hor period. The lunch service and call ahead for orders worked slick. Food was available within minutes of our arrival, hot and ready to eat. Providing a map of the tour was helpful for first timers who wanted to plan another visit. One helpful suggestion would be to label or mark the stops on the map so visitors would know where they were going and/or where they had been.
