a trip of a lifetime. seeing the sky above cloud level, watching the sun sink through those clouds and then seeing the stars etc was stunning. Our guide really knew his stuff and the supply of warm jackets and hot chocolate was perfect.
Excellent. Recommend to everyone. Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Great trip the guide was informative and helpful. The views were awesome. Guide took photos for the couples, meal great. The guide was very personable and friendly. We received more than we expected from this tour.
Awesome! Tour guide was extremely helpful, patient (we had one of "those people" on our tour), and passionate about he did especially when it came to the Star Show at the end - this is not to be missed. Recommend getting to to the Summit in a tour if you aren't a confident driver - rough road. This tour is one of my top 3 after 2 weeks on Hawaii.
We had a wonderful trip from start to finish. The ride up was very interesting learning about the area and of course the summit. The sunset was great. as a bonus it was great checking out some of the night sky on the way down to the base. We highly recommend this tour while visiting the "Big Island"
Absolutely amazing tour well worth the money I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Excellent guide with great knowledge which made the tour very worthwhile. The experience was unique with a very friendly group, and the view was superlative.
Our guide did a great job of setting up the wonderful supper all the while providing interesting commentary on the wonders of the island. After supper Robert took us to the top of the mountain for a beautiful, although quite cold so dress warmly, sunset. After the sunset it was back down the mountain where Robert set up a small telescope and showed us several celestial objects while drinking hot chocolate. Then it was back to our hotel. The tour was as advertised and Robert was an amazing guide. I highly recommend this trip.
The Mauna Kea trip to the summit isn't cheap, and it's an all-day outing, but it's worth it.
All in all, it was a fantastic expedition. Well worth the cost and the time. Book a day/night that has a dim moon for optimum stargazing, and be prepared for the cold at the summit. It is very much UNLIKE the rest of the island climate. This one is practically all-inclusive, and a must-do for anyone interested in the earth or astronomical sciences.
We were impressed with the knowledge of our guide. We loved the personal attention and enjoyed every minute of our experience.
Greatness! There is nothing like the sunset @ the top of the summit. The entire tour was wonderful. We left from the Kona location, our guide was Taj. He took great care of us! He taught us a lot about the Hawaiian culture, beliefs and about the BI in general. We learned more on this tour than we did in 2 weeks on the island. The food was surprisingly good (even the cornbread and we're from TX). The brownies and coco even better! The STARS - OMG, living in the city, it's easy 2 4get how many stars there r!!! Looking @ them thru a high powered telescope -whoa, spectacular! It's defiantly cold. Was wishing I had my long johns and UGG's, but worth braving the cold. We were there Feb/Mar so there was snow and crazy wind. Bathrooms along the way - not so great. But it's not like there's a gas station on every corner, so that is easily overlooked. This should be in the top 5 things 2 do while on the BI. If ur lucky enuff 2 get Taj, u have 2 ask him about "Andy's Star" and give him and Robert a big ole' "Hey Y'all" from T in TX!
Really good trip, well organised and we saw so many stars you just don't see from England but gather from other guests comments from most places! Parkers provided lovely and warm, couldn't fault it.
yet another wonderful tour. food and guide were almost as delightful as the mountains, the sunset, and the stars. Also a great guided tour of most of the island as a bonus.
Surprising how cold it is at that altitude,
but with the coats and mitts they give you well worth the trip.
