The weather was not cooperative but that didn't ruin the trip. Our guide was very informative, careful driver and looking out for us. We drove home in horrible fog for most of the way, but always felt safe. Great experience!
Tour was great! Our tour guide Katie, picked us up at 9am sharp. She is highly personable and knowledgeable, and kept the whole tour entertained. She made stops along the tour to view whales and sea turtles, and even recommended a guy selling fresh coconuts! Highlight of the tour is definitely seeing the red glow of the volcano at night. Considering the excessive crowd at the volcano park during the evening lava viewing, and also the amount of driving needed, this tour is the best way to go about it. The iPad movies at night was a pleasant surprise. Recommended!
Dominik was a very knowledgeable guide. He went out of his way to explain so many things, HI history, geology of volcanoes, native vs. introduced plants, successfully finding nene geese, etc. This tour provides a great impression of the big island, the dry Kona side with its beaches, coffee plantations, turtles on the beach, the southern tip of the island, and the Kilauea area, various sights in the volcano NP, with the glowing of Kilauea at night as the high point.
Thoroughly enjoyed!! Tour guide (Katie) was excellent!!!! Her enthusiasm about is contagious!!!
Drinking Java on the Big Island of Lava!! This tour was one of the best I have been on anywhere on the planet. Katie our guide was fantastic with her commentary and organization - and we were so lucky to see some special and memorable places on this tour. The Coffee Farm visit was Outstanding as an introduction to growing, sorting and drying out coffee beans and a beautiful location too!! Seeing six turtles on the Black Sand Beach was a very special experience. The Volcano Park was awesome: the 1969 Lava Trail was from another world; watching the glow in the Caldera of Kīlauea at sunset was unique; and Volcano House was nice too. This trip was worth every cent and the perfect introduction to an island with almost every climate in the world on it and so many natural things to see and enjoy. Katie you are a legend and we recommend this trip and other related Big Island trips!!
Our tour guide Katie was amazing!!! She made the tour a five star tour because of her knowledge and her enthusiasm.
The tour was excellent. It was the best tour we have ever been on. Our tour guide, Katie, was amazing! You could tell she really loved her job which helped set this tour above all the rest! We learned everything we needed to know about the island.
My boyfriend and I took this tour on our recent trip to the Big Island and found it to be a great way to see some of the island. Our guide Dominik was so knowledgable of the history and environment, and we felt very well cared for the entire time. We highly recommend this tour.
Dominik was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide for the coffee and volcano tour! My friends and I learned so much about the island. We would never have had this enriched experience if we had toured the island on our own.
Great all day trip. Our guide Katie was very knowledgeable. Wouldn't have been able to navigate through the park and had the experience we had without her.i
This tour was perfect for the entire family. We had an 8 year old with us, as well as my late 60s parents who have some mobility issues. The pace was right for everyone, and the variety of stops and activities were well planned and interesting. Katie, the tour guide, was amazing. She knew so much about the plants and history of the area. It's a long day, but it is well worth every minute and every penny!
The tour was amazing and our tour guide driver was so informative. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone
I was the only one on the trip that day, but anyway Katie came pick me and guided me through the following warm and fantastic 12 hours. Feel like being upgraded to an amazing private tour!
It seems to me that Katie knows any hidden things on this island. Let alone the legends, histories and her wide knowledge about lives here. The Kona city is charming and neat, and coffee farm tour was informative and interesting. The best part was still the black sand beach and volcanoes park. I know some other tours do not involve the Punalu'u beach, but stepping on the famous black sand beach is something you won't wanna miss! At the volcanoes park, we also went down hill to the seashore where the black lava buries everything. I couldn't even find a word to describe how astonished I felt when I was standing there. At Halemaumau Crater, we wait till it got completely dark so I can better spot the glowing lava lake.
During that 12 hours, I saw a lot, experienced a lot, and also learned a lot. Thank you Katie for the wonderful trip!
BTW, Katie is also a good photographer who helped take me many good photos!
