We had an amazing day and loved every second of this tour. We enjoyed stopping at a local coffee farm, local bakery, Black Sand Beach, then the volcano! The food we had was very good too and the entire day was relaxing. Our tour group was small and we had so much fun with the other people. The guide Rob was amazing, he was very friendly and made us all very comfortable. Rob had so much wonderful information of all aspects of Hawaii. We learned more from Rob in one day then all the other days of our trip combined. This tour was one of our favorite things we did!!!! The only thing we would change would be to get closer to the lava, as we were very far away we could only see a small glow from about a hundred yards away, still very pretty though.

Jessie was a great guide and made the day memorable in many ways. We stopped in special places which really added to the experience. He even found ways around a roadblock to get us in a good viewing position. No, he didn't break the law.

The tour was an extraordinary experience. Our guide, April, was wonderfully efficient and very knowledgeable. The arrangements for the trip turned out just as promised and we were comfortable, well-fed, and well looked after. The sense of wonder at the awe-inspiring power of nature was all our own!

Great tour!! Don't forget to bring a long sleeve shirt; if it was me, again, I'd bring some weather proof long pants. You'll definitely see the weather changes rapidly.

This is a really good trip. It's a long day on the road with a lot of driving, but well worth it.
Our guide Ryan was very friendly and informative throughout and kept us interested with his commentary

Things didn't start well, I was the only person booked on the tour so they wanted to cancel. Given that I had only gone to big island to see the volcano I was a little upset. Rob agreed to take me on the evening lava adventure after visiting the black beaches and other tourist destinations with other visitors from a cruise ship. This was above the call of duty and I would highly recommend using this company as they went out of their way to accommodate me. As the ship was late, I even got to see the rainbow falls and Japanese gardens.
Rob was both knowledgeable and friendly and I can't thank him enough for the extra effort he put in to keep a visitor happy (and cross an item off the bucket list)

Grossartige Tour. Wurde sogar durchgeführt, obwohl ich alleine war. Konnte dadurch extrem viele Fragen stellen. Die Lava bei Nacht zu sehen war fantastisch.

This is a long day tour. Pick up was around mid day, we travelled through a lot of the island, stopping off along the way for some sight seeing, and at a super bakery for some yummy snacks etc. Our tour guide Fran, was very knowledgeable, and really bought into volcanoes and Big island culture, This made her narratives interesting and understandable. We met some super folk on this tour, all of whom enjoyed it. Walking through a lava tube was interesting, as was the cheeky stop at some macadamia nut trees along the way. We stopped off at a golf course for some tea, which was nice and comfortable. The welcome was pleasant too. Towards the end of the tour, we returned to the previously visited visitor centre, right at the side of the volcano. The sun had set at this point, revealing a bright red glow for the distant volcano active spot. We could only get within a half mile or so from the active part, and didn’t see any live flowing lava which was a let down, but on the whole very enjoyable trip. The small group made the tour much more comfortable and fun, I think we all enjoyed this fact. We had plenty of time to look around at our own pace and direction. The tour was slightly hampered in full enjoyment by the VOG, which is volcanic fog. This coupled with a large mist cloud did spoil things, but hey, this is nature at work, so we cant really grumble at that. A long drive back to Kona, tired and sleepy. Thank you Fran for your efforts, and good luck in the future.

We had a great guide Ryan, who was very informative and funny. Tour is great, didn't see lava flows, however did see the glow at night. Went from volcanic rocks through to rainforest - was really fantastic. Experiencing the steam vents in the evening was awesome especially when it started getting a bit cold. There wasn't a Hawaiian barbecue dinner on our trip, rather a basic rice and chicken dinner at this club house - so that's a bit misleading. Lunch was on a farm in Puna with great views.

The picture of the flowing lava is horribly misleading. There's no lava to be seen. We saw it reflecting off smoke after we went back to the place at night, though, which was pretty cool. The ad said it was a 12 hour trip. It was around 8 and at least 4 of that was driving. We went to the Volcano park, which has a $10 entrance fee. It was a pretty cool place and I realize that we got fed twice, but still not really worth it at all.

1 star rating: I do not recommend this

The advestisement of this tour includes a visit to the macademia nut and honey farm but you will be told the farm no longer work with the tour company so it won't be visited. This tour is the same as the Big Island Grand Circle Tour but more expensive. The only difference is you will visit the same creator again in the evening to see the glow. Although advertised seeing the molten lava turning into rock; again the guide won't bring you to the spot. I heard friends joining other local tours did actually visit the spot but not with this tour. Very disappointed.
