What You Can Expect
We learnt a lot about the region and appellations. The small group meant that we could ask more questions and we got to taste and blend wines which was fantastic. The visit to the wineries was good and also very interesting to learn about the wine-making process.
It was a very fun and informative tour. Our guide, Marion, was very knowledgeable and attentive towards us during the trip. We liked that she also showed us attractions in Bordeaux itself and not only the vineyards and chateaux. Overall, it was a great tour and a nice way to spend the day.
Trip was great. Very knowledgeable guide.
Perfect, just the right intro to Bordeaux, the guide was very helpful and gavee good info for the rest of our visit.
Good experience to see actual wineries and to know the difference in making wine by each winery.
All in all a good tour and entertaining
The guide was great, very dedicated to his job and we had a lovely day! The wineries were lovely and the people very friendly, saw some beautiful scenery. It was very easy to do the booking in the Iphone and just show the voucher rather than having to print it off - I would definitely recommend this trip.
The Medoc tour we took via aviator from Bordeaux was underwhelming. The tour operator did did seem very organized and the chateau's we visited were not as grand as I was expecting. A positive note is that both wineries staffed professional, knowledgeable wine experts. Our guide talked way too much.
We were the only two people on the tour which made it nice and private. Our driver/tour guide was fluent in English and knowledgeable about wines - like us. Now the bad news.....Because we rented a car, we could have easily driven to the two wineries ourselves. We had no control over which wineries the company chose and how well they were rated. In France, you have to take a tour of each winery before a tasting - seeing the same vats, barrels and listening about how to make wine over and over again. Some interesting facts were gathered and fun seeing the different wineries, but overall boring and time consuming. In all led up to....We were very disappointed that only 2 wines were poured for tasting and very, very small pours. That was it. For $157 plus tip to guide, we spent over $180 - big rip off. I would recommend renting your own car, calling the wineries you want to see, and book yourself.
The tour guide picked us up 30 minutes late, she was harried and rushed during the entire tour. She rushed us because she said she was late, she continued to rush us through the tastings and then told us we did not have enough time to drive down the road of the Chateaus in Medoc, which was one of the main reasons we booked the tour. She rushed back and dropped us off 15 minutes early. The result was our tour was cut short by 45 minutes and because of this one of the main aspects of the tour was omitted. all of this, through no fault of our, but because she was late and wanted to be back early. I intend to ask for a refund of part of the fee that I paid for this tour since the tour was incomplete.
