Guide David was exceptional. Well travelled himself, very knowledgable, even included extra wine shop tastings, made time to include the underground church tour, group of 8 was perfect, a wonderful day. A must do when in Bordeaux.
Excellent tour from Ophorus.
Our guide, Marion, was very knowledgeable, lucid and very happy to answer all the questions that we had.
Both my wife and I enjoyed the tour and hope to return some day soon.
This trip was really great. We saw some beautiful chateaus and had great wine. The town of Saint-Emilion was also really fun and interesting. It was a great day and the guide was well versed in everything we wanted to know about the town and the wine process. It is a great tour.
Isabel was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable, personable, and she loved the area. Wish the day,had been longer. Our traveling companions were delightful as well. Weather was great too. We were impressed with Bordeaux and wish we had had the opportunity to spend more time and tour the city as well. Thank you, Isabel, for making our day there so special!
Alain was a marvelous guide and offered excellent information on the countryside, history and vineyards. We wrere met on time and deposited back as promised and had a fine day in between.
A bit pricy compared to other wine tasting tour in Bordeaux but we found it worth paying an extra. Very knowledgeable and friendly guide took us to visit a number of vineyards and chateau and and a small village of St Emillion. Wine tasting in 3 different places, which was a great opportunity for us to try different age and taste of Bordeaux wine. 6 participants in total from different areas of this planet and we all became good friends by the time this tour was completed. We would definitely recommend this tour to make the most of the day in Bordeaux.
Isabelle was the best!! She was so informative on the history, the terroir and everything about wine in this beautiful region! Isabelle was very congenial and a lovely guide who looked after every detail including an additional wine tasting at a St. Emillion wine shop. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful day trip. Thank you! Isabelle. You are first class!
Very enjoyable day tasting merlot based wines with a personable and knowledgable guide (Christophe). Even in the rain St Emilion was a beautiful town. At Chateau Sales, one of the owners, who happened to be on site, approached us and introduced himself. It was a pleasure to meet a man who had high respect for the land and the vines that had been in his family's hands for many generations. Highly recommended tour.
Excellent tour, the guide Delphine sis a great job, she is quite knowledge of the Nordeaux wine and area.
The tour was fantastic and we learnt a great deal from our extremely knowledgable tour guide Isobelle. Saint-Emilion was beautiful, and it was there we ordered wine from 'Bordeaux-Classique' which arrived the day after we got home! The only negative we had was the visits to the wine estates should have been the other way round as we found the one in the morning to be the better one so we were slightly disappointed by the one in the afternoon.
This tour was wonderful. We were also lucky because on the day of the tour we had:
(a) excellent weather
(b) an excellent guide: Delphine
(c) in the two Chateaus that we visited we had a chance to be guided by the owners
We also had a wine tasting at a small wine shop at Saint Emilion where we were able to test examples of all the qualified wines. The tour was well organized and paced. Highly recommended indeed.
We give it 5 stars with enthusiasm! The countryside, mostly vineyards, was beautiful and the tour guide was delightful (forgot her name already) she was very knowledgable, informative and a good driver. We are not fond of affordable French wines so were not disappointed, though the wineries we visited were quite impressive. Spent a leisurely (almost 2 hours) in the lovely, quaint St. Emillion where we had an enjoyable lunch at a small restaurant recommended by our tour guide.
The tour was terrific! Not only were all of the sites amazing, but our tour guide Marion (from Ophorus) really made the trip. She was able to intelligently answer all questions and joyfully bring us through one of her greatest passions: French wine! Recommended for anyone who loves wine and history.
This tour was incredibly informative and interesting.
Our tour guide, David, was very knowledgeable about grape production, wine making, history, politics and geography of this area of France.
The wineries were diverse, and the wine tasting was lots of fun.
At no time was there any pressure to purchase wines, but we did, just because we enjoyed them!
St-Emilion is a very beautiful spot, and following Davids recommendation, we toured the catacombes beneath the town.
It was stunning, and once again our tour guide was informative and interesting.
This day was a highlight of our journey.
This was a great day and was exactly what we expected. Had a great tour guide and had a wonderful day.
The tour was a lovely experience. The town of St. Emillion itself was charming in an old-style type of way. With its old streets, monolithic church it looked like something out of a story book. Our guide, Marion, was full of energy and spent a lot of time telling us about winemaking and the region. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
His command of the English language is excellent. Being a somelier, David helped identify and describe the many different aromas and tastes of the featured wines. As he is very knowledgeable of the entire wine-making process, he provided many insights which made our tasting that much more enjoyable.
Isabelle was a fantastic tour guide. Her knowledge of the area and of Bordeaux wine making was excellent.
The visit to St Emilion was a nice way to break up the day.
We loved this tour! Our tour guide David Marin of Ophorus was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The van was pretty comfortable - spacious and air conditioned. There were four other tourists on the ride with us, and we ended up having lunch with them in St. Emilion which was really fun. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting two chateaux with tastings and tours and also having a little free time in St. Emilion. We learned sooo much, not only about the local history but also about the differences between the St. Emilion, Pomerol, and even Medoc appelations. I think David did a great job filtering down all the information to just the more important and interesting facts, and he made some great recommendations too. It was so wonderful not having to drive and navigate, especially as we're doing wine tastings. And particularly because this was on a weekend when often chateaux are closed or it may be difficult to get appointments, it was so easy and convenient just to go along for the ride. I highly recommend this as the way to go for Bordeaux first-timers... We might even do it again next time!
Excellent day trip, good combination of wine touring and sight seeing in St Emilion. St Emilion is a very beautiful and historic village to visit.
We were a small group of 8, 2 New Zealanders, 2 Australians and 4 Belgians. Driven and guided by the charming and delightful Delphine with the accent that I could listen to all day. We visited a chateaux at St Emilion for a tour of the wine making process and tasting and then on to the village of St Emilion. After a quick orientation and history from Delphine we had free time for lunch and then a tour of the monolithic church (recommended.) then we met up and had wine tastings at a wine shop in the village. Following that it was to a very charming chateaux at Pomerol for a further wine tasting before returning to Bordeaux. A most enjoyable tour and so pleased we did not do this independently as the village is over run with tourists.
Excellent day tour of Pomerol and the right bank. The tasting at Chateau Pressac was particularly enjoyable.
You will not regret choosing the full day small group minivan tour over the half day coach bus tour!
Our guide, Mathieu, was very knowledgeable about the region and very friendly and personable. During the drive from Bordeaux city center to the region, he entertained us with historical anecdotes and explained some of the wine-making process to us. Each of the wineries that we visited had their own unique feature and the guides at each were also very friendly and informative. We learned a lot even though we had also taken a tour to the Medoc region because there are a number of regional differences.
Saint-Emilion is such a charming village. Be sure to sample the original macarons. They are quite different from the Parisian version, but equally delicious. If we visit again, we would consider spending an extra day in Saint-Emilion.
