Very enjoyable afternoon learning about wines in the Bordeaux region and tasting some with the variety of cheeses. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. Unique setting. Well worth it.
Simply amazing! This is a MUST do tour in Bordeaux specially if you haven't been there yet, which was my case. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, the wines were amazing and the cheeses were divine! I learnt so much about wine and the tasting tips that I now feel like a pro! The place where the tasting took place was really charming and felt very exclusive. It definitely went beyond my expectations!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the wines of Bourdeaux, it was an excellent introduction to the area. Loved the opportunity to try so many wonderful cheeses, was so impressed by the variety and abundance of cheeses - my favorite part.
My partner and I chose this tour to further explore wonderful Bordeaux and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. The tour was very pleasant and we particularly appreciated our guide's performance. Marie, our guide, was great at managing the tour in both French and English. She knew the topic very well and delivered a very insightful presentation into Bordeaux wine and French cheese. Kudos to her for also being graceful while firm with one of our fellow toursits who played the bad cop. In addition, the restaurant where the wine and cheese tasting was held was very nice and its staff pleasant. And oh my, the cheese cellar is so impressive! To sum up, I highly reccomend this tour for exploring Bordeaux wine and get an interesting introduction to wine tasting, cheese a volonte to taste and a knowledgeable tour guide.
I loved our class! Our "teacher" was very informative about French wines which really allowed us to make informed decisions when driving the countryside on our own. And the cheese cellar was a-mazing! I didn't want to leave!
Very professional guide. She is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history, geography and wines of Bordeaux. The wine tasting session is very well-explained. We blind-tasted three red wines from Bordeaux. The cheese cellar is located at the basement of the restaurant (5min walk from Tourist office). Lots of selections. Great guide, great tour.
The Wine and Cheese Introduction was the best I have ever had, and I have done quite a few of these. I am not exactly a novice to wine but I wanted to learn more about Bordeaux wines and that I did. In fact Brigitte conducted such a fabulous "class" that I commented to her that this was the most comprehensive and informative wine tasting I have ever done. Brigitte herself is super knowledgeable of her region and its wines and imparted this information to us in such a manner that was easy to understand and at the same time exciting.
The wine shop where she held the class was filled with a wonderful selection of regional wines and had a fabulous cheese room in the basement. We got to try as many of the cheeses as we wanted to; I fell in love with one of the cheeses and asked the owner where I could get it and he was so gracious; he actually went to the cheese room and cut a piece of the cheese and gave it to me. This event was definitely great value for money and exceeded my expectations on every level.
I enjoyed my time in Bordeaux and I have already made plans to return in the Spring.
What a wonderful hostess we had for our Wine and Cheese tasting. There was a good balance of French and English language used and we did not feel excluded! A perfect introduction to the wines of Bordeaux, but we would have liked more information about the cheeses. We loved tasting as many as possible of the cheeses but did not recognise all of them. An educational and fun experience and extremely good value for money. Thank you!
The guide was good in explaining the art of wine tasting and the different wines in the Bordeaux region. The cheese cellar is amazing and the choice of cheeses simply out of this world!!
Overview of the wines of Bordeaux was very comprehensive for the time given. The cheese tasting was excellent; the cheese tasting is simply a tasting, no commentary. Would highly recommend the event to those interested in learning more about the wines of the area.
Really nice! The cheese selection was awesome! Wines were great with good talk about the Bordeaux region wine making. Nice beginning to an evening in Bordeaux
The cheese at this tour is amazing, you are given access to a cheese cellar and can help yourself. Three glasses of wine and a really good presentation on how to taste french wines. You get to try 3 wines from all over Bordeaux.
This event was quite enjoyable once we arrived at the restaurant, however there was an awkward start while the tour guide became increasingly irritated that she did not have the same number of participants as she had tickets for and kept demanding that those who had not provided tickets hand them in. No one seemed to be in that category and we stood around on the pavement wondering what was expected. Once she settled down about that and moved on, the tour was enjoyable and the information given was useful.
I booked this tour with my sister. While the location, wine and cheese were all good the tour guide allowed a mother, father and a baby on the tour. I do not mind babies but this baby was only 2 months old and cried which distracted the tour and I wish the tour guide had asked the mother or father to take the baby outside or to another part of the resturant. I understand that it is not the tour guide's fault that these parents chose to bring their baby on this tour but for the price of the tickets she should have spoken up. The baby was so distractive that it was very hard to hear the tour guide. When you pay good money for the tour I would expect that the guide would be more aware of these things.
Poor value for Money paid. The host was extremely rude. All you got was three small pieces of cheese, three small tasting samples of wine and some bread. I would definitely not recommend this tour.
Very disappointing as the party was half English speaking and our guide seemed unable to cope with the constant change from french to English and vice versa. We enjoyed our cheese but did not feel we learned much about wine.
We would regrettably not recommend this tour.
