The hole in the flag is a symbol of Hungary's freedom after the collapse of communism. The communist hammer and sickle were in the past the emblem on the flag. This flag waves next to the grave of the unknown soldier in the garden infront of the Parliament building.
This miniature Parliament building is built by a private man and his wife with matches! They've used a few thousand matches to complete this project of them. When completed, they donated it to the government and it got this special place in a glass box nearby the entrance. Our tour guide said that the couple received a house as a thank you gift.
