What You Can Expect

Buenos Aires Bike Tour: Recoleta and Palermo Districts

Recoleta tombs in Buenos Aires

After meeting your guide in a central city location, listen to a quick safety briefing before receiving your bike (a comfy beach cruiser) and helmet. Then hop on to begin your leisurely 7-mile (12-km) ride.

Ride through the upscale district of Recoleta, famous for its French-style buildings and large parks. As you follow your guide, see Recoleta Cemetery, where legendary Argentineans like Eva Peron (aka Evita) are buried. Ride by Barrio Parque, a residential area home to unique mansions and large grassy parks, and pass through Barrio Norte, an informal name given to a lively section of Recoleta around Santa Fe Avenue.

Then head toward the district of Palermo – Buenos Aires’ largest neighborhood. Pedal to Palermo Woods, the city’s largest park, where you can admire its rose garden with more than 400 rose bushes. See more of the park’s sights, including the Buenos Aires Zoo, the Botánical Garden, Plaza Italia, Galileo Galilei Planetarium and the Spaniard’s Monument.

Other attractions and landmarks seen on your tour include Pilar Church, the National Race Track, the Polo Fields, Fine Arts Museum, National Library, the Evita Monument and the Sociedad Rural Argentina.

Throughout your tour, your guide will tell you about Buenos Aires’ rich history and provide commentary about the sites you’re passing. You’ll also break periodically to stretch your legs and take photos. By the time you reach your end point – Plaza San Martin – you’ll be an expert on two of BA’s most popular neighborhoods.

My son and I enjoyed our bike tour very much with Ezekiel. We learned a lot of history about Argentina. It was just the two of us, so very easy to ask questions and he was more than happy to answer.

Our tour guide Alex was amazing! Really made sure we were safe biking and gave some great insight into the history and political climate of Buenos Aires. Learnt a ton about the city and had a great day biking and going through the cemetery.

Ezekiel guided us on a relaxed and Informative tour of two great neighbourhoods (8 Jan) way too large to explore on foot, and far cooler in the hot, humid summer, so excellent way to get a feel for a lovely part of Buenos Aires.

The tour guides did a great job. Even though the weather conditions they handled the situation extremely well. Although both were very young their knowledge of the city history was remarkable. Both deserved to be recognized by the management. Perhaps this is one of the best tour I ever experienced.

What a great tour! There were 6 in our group ranging from 14-50 yrs of age. Alex was a wonderful guide -- so full of knowledge about history and current events, funny and witty! The main streets were a little harrowing with the busy, busy traffic, but Alex maneuvered our group around the city in a safe manner and at a great pace. The riding was mostly on flat terrain with one uphill stretch at the end.

Great tour. Good opportunity for exercise. Dress for the weather as in June/July you may need gloves. Marcus was an excellent guide who spoke English very well.
