Besides being the best food I ate on my entire trip, this was one of the very best nights ever. This cooking/eating/laughing experience is totally awesome and would be fun for any ages, including families. We were seated with around 10 other people from all over the world (they have two big tables with around 20 total)...we were poured Malbec from several smaller wineries (best Malbec I had in Argentina), then came the empanada class. Which was a blast. But then came the most incredible steak i've ever tasted in my life, followed by a instructional on everything you wanted to know about matte. (tea). The staff was awesome -hilarious, passionate and obviously love all things Argentinian. Hanging out with others, we all exchanged stories of the best places in B.A. for eating, tango, etc...so this is a great place to start your Argentina trip, as you get tips from everyone else. On the night we were there, everyone at our table had so much fun that when these guys closed up, we all walked a few blocks down to another bar and partied till 2AM. Definately not to be missed. And they're located in the neighborhood of Palermo Hollywood, very safe and not far from central B.A. - there are lots of taxis all around all night for you to get back to your hotel. Totally awesome!
This truly was the highlight of my trip to Buenos Aires. I spent a little over a week in South America. A few days in Rio and a few days in B.A. I had some extra on my last night, so I decided to book this through Viator.com. I am so glad I did, what a pleasent experience. Met some really nice people. Leon, Richard and Carla were amazing hosts and very welcoming. I had e-mailed a few days before hand about my dietary needs and Carla e-mailed back and were able to accomdate me. the empanada making was louds of fun not to mention delicious. So was the mate' and alfajores. Learned so much about Argentine culture. Would absolutly go back to BA just for this. Well Done.
This is an experience not to be missed in Buenos Aires. It was a memorable experience. The company was varied and the hosts were wonderful. It is an experience that would be enjoyed by all age groups. The food was really great! We made empanadas and I have to say they were the best we had.
THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF OUR 15 DAYS IN ARGENTINA. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS....NOT JUST EMPANADAS INCL WINE AND DELICIOUS FILET AND DESSERT AND MATTE THE PEOPLE RUNNING IT WERE FIRST CLASS I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. DO NOT MISS THIS...I RECOMMEND HIGHLY. A TRULY GREAT EVENING!!!
My husband and I went. The class was fun. We liked the facilitators and the participants.
This is definitely a five star activity to do when you are in town. You don't come here to get "the real Argentine experience" you can get that anywhere in Argentina, you come here to have a real fun interactive experience and learn from expats that live here first hand of their "Argentine Experience". What does that mean? It means they take the best elements of their food that anyone would love, explain how and why it is so good and then they elevate it using Argentine technique mixed with expat taste to take it to the next level. You will learn to make empanadas. The best empanadas I had in Argentina. Were they traditional. Absolutely not, but they were the best I had. But in the process of learning how to make them, I did learn what was traditional and how an empanada can be made any way you want, including the way they make it, which for my pallet was somewhat more sophisticated than traditional. It is a great experience. The steak was EPIC. One of the best (I ate lots of steak in Argentina). Highly recommended for a fun informative tourist activity that is not necessarily Argentinian, but you will leave understanding much more about Argentina.
What an amazing experience! My husband and I visited Buenos Aires on our honeymoon and whenever we travel, we love to learn how to make local food (and of course we love eating it!), so we decided to book this tour. We are so glad we did. Upon arriving at the very posh location in Palermo Hollywood, we were greeted with a cocktail and introduced to the other guests. Then everyone headed upstairs to a modern, comfortable dining area where we were given an introduction by the amazing staff. We learned how to make empanadas, had an empanada-making contest and ate the empanadas along with absolutely delicious appetizers. Then it was time for the main course - a gigantic, beautifully cooked filet! Throughout all of the food and tastings, the staff was teaching us about Argentinian culture and ways. After dinner, we were taught how to properly make and drink the famous mate and we made our own alfajores for dessert. Plus, from beginning to end the Malbec was flowing!!! This was a great way to spend an evening in BA and not only did we eat and learn how to make amazing food, but we also learned a lot about Argentina and met some very nice people.
It was a great experience. The empanadas were delicious. The wine was great too. I finally got to taste mate! I would only add that I would have liked to see how the fillings were made.
The class was excellent. Very geared toward haivng fun and the guides were super knowledgable and friendly. I love cooking so I would have preferred to see the prep more than we did, but I guess timewise, it wouldn't have worked that way. I'd recommend this class to anyone!
