I was picked up from my hotel lobby by Cynthia, our excellent tour guide: insightful, funny. It took about 40 minutes to pick up the remaining guests from their downtown hotels, and then we hit the road to El Tigre.
We drove through the city into the Province of Buenos Aires, and for some reason we stopped in San Isidro. There was a small mini-mall of souvenir shops and a cathedral, but really this is just a tourist trap. I would have rather gone straight to El Tigre.
Because I was the only English-speaker on the tour, I felt as if I got a customized tour just for me. The boat ride on El Tigre was interesting: you see the riverside communities, floating amenities (such as a grocery boat), vegetation. The boat operator's guide was multilingual and well-informed. They served free alfajores as snacks and sold bottled water and beer. The boat ride lasted just under an hour.
Each tour bus has a camera operator taking video of the tourists in the group, hoping to sell videos. I don't think anyone in our group bought one. The cameraman was entertaining, though, and helpful as he took photos for people.
On the bus ride back, we took the autoroute; so it went much faster. There were 3 drop-off points in central locations. Roberto was an excellent driver.
A half-day trip to El Tigre was enough. In retrospect, I think I would have saved time taking the train myself to El Tigre. But Cynthia made the experience worthwhile.
We get to see different sights from train, boat to walking tour. Very interesting tour we get to miingle with the local on the train.
It was an interesting experience to travel by a regular train to San Isidro, together with the locals. San Isidro is a nice town with lots of leafy trees lining its streets. Tren de la Costa it was not just what we expected, I think the name sounds more exotic then it really is. El Tigre is nice, had a stroll around, watched the boats on the river. The boat travel back to Buenos Aires Puerto Madero was nice too. The views, the holiday houses, many for sale, the surfers all contributed to a nice day.
As a minus I would mention the boat not very accommodating, a small space in the back to take pictures, a squeaky sound from the insulation accompanied us all along. Another minus was the guide not speaking English which I am sure prevented us from finding out more about the places visited.
Very relaxing afternoon. Learned many interesting fact about the Delta and also the area surrounding Buenos Aires.
Fab day out local trains and the boat ride Back was fantastic there is a fair bit of walking but very good day out
Great value for the money. They pick you up and drop off at your hotel. A long bus ride but nice to see places outside buenos aires. Boat tour was very enjoyable with an extra touch in serving snacks.
This was really enjoyable. Half day was plenty, Paula the tour guide was great, friendly and funny. It's a nice change from staying in BA. Only annoyance was a random guy who videoed the tour and then wanted to sell the video + photos. I found it intrusive that he was filming us the entire time
It was fun. I would highly recommend it if you like to be on the water.
Great trip and well organised. The only awkward bit is after booking on line the e mail invites you to phone locally to arrange transport pick up not easy as I don't speak Spanish and the guy didn't speak English, why could this not be done on line?
The local tour agent is responsive, has english-speaking agents on the phone, and hotel pick-up is hassle-free and on time. The tour guide can speak in excellent English and Spanish.
The tour itself is highly-recommended, as it show-cases different facets of life and views of the river delta, that is distinct from the main Buenos Aires city.
Very interesting half day. We didn't go on the train but were transported by a comfortable coach. Good guide and nice river trip.
The tour is a great way to see more of Argentina. Nice, relaxing day. Lunch was actually good.
Great day trip outside of Buenos Aires. The tour included transport, train ride and boat ride. It was very nice.
Worth a tour as by ourselves we would have probably not ventured out of the city. Great value for the price.
Well informed guide. The tour was well planned out with the transitions going smoothly. The Tigre by boat was peaceful and lovely.
We had a very good tour. The pick up from our hotel was very efficient and the tour guides throughout the tour were very friendly and informative. I would always be pleased to book another tour with Viator.
This was a very pleasant trip which got us away from the city center. It was not desperately exciting, but nevertheless it was interesting and shows a different part of Buenos Aires. Lunch at the end of the tour at a very smart restaurant on the waterfront in. We were shown to individual tables and it was a fantastic buffet including huge amounts of barbecued meats, pasta, and fish. This was an absolutely unbelievable value included in this tour ticket, which was already a good value.
