Cairns Wildlife Dome
All the wildlife is presented in natural settings and habitats, giving you the opportunity for close animal interaction and great photo opportunities. See the cuddly and furry koalas and wallabies, scaly snakes and crocodiles, and native birds flying freely around you. There are shows and keeper presentations throughout the day, providing an interactive and fun learning experience.
For adventure lovers and thrill-seekers alike, there are plenty of activities to test your skill and challenge your bravery.
Mid Zoom Ropes Course: Suitable for beginners, you’ll explore 27 different elements including: a spider’s web, seesaw, chairs and a snakes and ladders climbing wall.
Hi Zoom Ropes Course: A medium to hard level of difficulty as some of the 38 elements are very difficult and may take a few attempts. You’ll traverse the swinging beer kegs, tyre wire, walk the plank, dodge ball and the Cargo net.
ZOOm View: An internal walk around the top of the glass dome with views of the entire exhibit.
Dome Climb: An external walk around the top of the glass dome with views of Cairns City, the Coral Sea and local Mountain ranges.
PowerJump: A controlled descent device allowing participants to jump from the 49- foot (15-meter) high internal walkway.
Zip Lines: There are four ziplines of varying heights and lengths within the dome, featuring the adrenaline pumping ride over the top of the crocodile pond home to the enormous Goliath.
Itinerary
Rainforestation: Explore Australia's World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest at the Rainforestation Nature Park in Kuranda. The park is set on 100 acres (40 hectares) of pristine rainforest within five minutes’ drive of Kuranda village, accessible from Cairns by road or by the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or the Kuranda Scenic Railway (transport between Cairns and Kuranda is not included). A complimentary shuttle runs regularly from Kuranda Village to Rainforestation Nature Park. This eco-friendly Kuranda attraction offers three unique experiences: the Army Duck Rainforest Tours with Tropical Fruit Orchard, Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, and the Koala and Wildlife Park.
Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas: Get up close to Australian native flora and fauna at Wildlife Habitat located just outside of Port Douglas. There are three different environments to explore – the Wetlands, Rainforest and Grasslands, each with unique habitats.
Australian Butterfly Sanctuary: Located in the heart of Kuranda, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is the largest butterfly flight aviary in Australia. This unique all-weather attraction is home to over 1,500 magnificent tropical butterflies.
