Wavedancer Low Isles Great Barrier Reef Cruise from Cairns with Diving option

Situated 9 miles (15 kilometers) north-east of Port Douglas, Low Isles is a 4 acre coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of reef. The two small islands are separate with one common reef. The larger of the two, Woody Island, is uninhabited except for a large bird population. The smaller of the Low Isles is a coral cay with a lighthouse that has been operating since 1878.

Snorkeling is fun and a brilliant way to view this watery wonderland. All equipment is provided and friendly snorkeling supervisors are on hand to give you a few tips, so all you have to do is enjoy this visual and sensory masterpiece.

Before departure for Low Isles, a Marine Biologist will conduct an informative talk on the reef and corals to provide you with a better appreciation of the reef. Snorkelers have the opportunity to join organized snorkel expeditions and view the creatures of the reef under the guidance of a Marine Biologist.

Coral viewing is so easy with a glass bottom boat tour. The coral viewing boat leaves the island regularly and cruises over the delicate soft coral gardens that surround Low Isles. An informative commentary will be conducted to point out the corals, the many brightly colored tropical fish and magnificent giant clams to the passengers. Perhaps this is your chance to meet a turtle!

A Marine Biologist conducts a guided beach walk, showing interested passengers the unique marine life living at the waters edge. Included in the beach walk is information on the flora and fauna inhabiting the island along with the history of Low Isles as an important place of marine research.

Departure Point: Tour departs from selected Cairns hotels. Cruise departs from the Marina Mirage in Port Douglas. Departure Time: Cruise departs from the Marina Mirage at 10:00am. Hotel pickups are between 7:30am and 9:00am. Return details: Tour returns to original point of departure. Hotel Pickup: Hotel pickup is available from selected Cairns hotels. Please advise your full hotel name and address at time of booking. If hotel details are not provided, you must make your own way to Port Douglas for cruise departure. Itinerary:

Hotel pickups from selected Cairns hotels commence for the transfer by coach to the Marina Mirage in Port Douglas.

9:30am
Complimentary morning tea or coffee on boarding. For your safety, hot drinks are not served once the vessel is underway. Passengers are required to be onboard the vessel 15 minutes before departure.

9:45am
An informative Marine Biologist presentation is shown in the main cabin.

10:00am
Wavedancer departs Marina Mirage for Low Isles.

10:30am
Snorkeling demonstration is conducted during the journey to Low Isles.

11:15am
Wavedancer arrives at Low Isles and your activities commence. The coral viewer and shuttle vessels leave for the island, and continue to run throughout the day. Your snorkeling equipment is available from the storage containers on the foredeck of Wavedancer. We recommend that you conduct all snorkeling from the island. The guided snorkeling tour operates form the island. Introductory dives operate from the back of Wavedancer.

Lunch is served. Enjoy your tropical buffet. Bar operates throughout the day.

Beach Walk is conducted by a Marine Biologist from the shuttle boarding area on the beach.

Last shuttle leaves the island to return passengers to the vessel. Afternoon tea is served.

3:10pm
Depart Low Isles for Port Douglas. Enjoy light entertainment during the return journey.

4:30pm
Arrive at Marina Mirage, Port Douglas. Transfer back to Cairns by air-conditioned coach.
