There is so much to see you have to have a guide, and the guide we had was great! You may need more time at the Khan & the museum, but it's a good intro to Giza and the pyramids, and then you can go back on your own.

Superb trip, well organised and well worth booking. We booked a private tour and expected just the tour guide, we were most surprised that we had a driver as well, this ensured that the tour guide gave us his undivided attention. His knowledge was admirable, and nothing was too much trouble for him. The driver was very competent Cairo is extremely busy!!! We felt very safe and would recommend Viator to our family and friends.

Booked the tour and was impressed that they rang me to confirm my attendance. I wanted to see as much of Cairo as I could as I only had one day. We went to the museum first; I liked that we were given a tour where things were explained but also given time to ourselves to explore things we wanted to see. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and spoke excellent English. Unfortunately, I had to cut my tour short without seeing the pyramids as I became ill; not the fault of the tour but merely the heat and exhaustion, and I was looked after very well. They even rang my hotel a few hours later to make sure I was OK and to ask if I needed a doctor. Pity I didn't get to finish the tour but would definitely recommend it to others.

Superb guide was on top of things and more importantly kept all the "hawkers" at bay, which is a real chore.

The best way to invest your money when you go to any part of Egypt is to have organized tours day trips and a guide. It's worth every penny and do not think that you will be saving any money if you find things to do on the day when you get there because you will not. The locals will just rip you off and you will probably end up paying more than the tour itself. And above all the hasslers will leave you alone if they see you with a guide. They are the most stressful people I have ever seen. It's a shame really.

The hassle around the pyramids gets worse every year, and free time there was largely taken up with being pestered by the local touts. Either the guide should stay with you to ensure you are left alone, like the coach trips do, or only stop for photos and move on. Our guide was excellent and this is no reflection on her.

Nice tour. The guide was very flexible, and since we were a small group, he was able to modify the itinerary per our request. He appeared to be knowledgeable, but could have presented more in depth information. As it was, most everything he said could have come from a guide book.

My experience would have been better if we had a better, English speaking, knowledgeable guide.

The tour guide was in a big hurry and not very informative. She was at times rude - may be there were cultural differences.

Our guide was an archeaologist and a relative of the great Zahi Hawass, we thought we are so lucky. The guide said inside the pyramids is a let down and suggested a camel ride and a secret visit to a tomb. VIP! We were shown a very small tomb with some hieroglyphics and a skull of a prince lying under a concrete slab in a hole in the floor, 300 pounds extra for four minutes from entering the tomb and taking some pictures to being asked to leave. The camel ride which was waiting for us when we got there was to take us to a spot to take pictures of the pyramids in a row. That did not happen although the ride was fun. That cost us 500 egyptian and the guide said this was the best price she could get and we were not to talk money to the camel owner as we were getting a special price agreed by her. Museum was fine wish we had more time as I had asked the guide to make. Viator say customers have the choice of requesting where they want to spend the most time. She was very informative, here a must see. On to the papyrus museum and a place for lunch. I skipped lunch after breakfast. Did not request with booking either. Khan el-Khalili. A not so traditional market where the sellers are rude and the hassle was unbearable. Waited 15 minutes. Wasted time. After booking I thought guide and transport were included in the price. The guide said we must pay her 300 egyptian pounds and the driver 70. We spent an extra 1280 egyptian pounds, I do recommend discussing tips with the rep before you start. I had used Viator before.
