A very informative and well paced tour of what is very depressing to be honest. Daro, the tour leader, let us ask questions at every opportunity and really helped, as best as he could, experience the venues.
Both on the way to, as well as the way back, he gave us great tips on things to do and not do, which is always very helpful for a tourist.
This is a tour which I felt I had to take, because I felt that however unpleasant it was, it was something I had to see, having read and heard so much about it. As other reviewers have said, it was incredibly sad, reduced me to tears. The tour was a small group tour, but there was just me, and my guide Daro who was extremely knowledgeable, and I was very grateful to have him take me on the tour, definitely not somewhere you want to go on your own.
This is one of the best tours Ive ever been on and Ive been on a lot! Tour guide was fantastic and really knew his topic. He was also extremely passionate about telling the story of what happened and in educating people. I could have stayed for hours looking around both sites and listening to the information the guide wanted to share. I even got to meet one of the seven survivors and had my photo taken with him. I was able to ask the survivor, with the help of my guide, questions about his life and experiences during the reign of Pol Pot. I can not recommend this tour enough!
Very knowledgeable guide with good english, gave us a better understanding of the history. A must see for everyone and hopefully we will all come away working harder for peace throughout the world!
We found this tour very informative and moving. Would recommend to anyone. Both Guide and driver were excellent.
This trip was insightful though heart wrenching , the guide was knowledgeable and took us through the history in detail...a must for all those travelers wanting the hard truths about the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge...
I had an amazing experience with Viator and my tour guide. I was picked up on time and was the only one in the group which was kind of nice because I was able to go at my own pace and have quality time to ask questions. It is especially helpful to have a guide for the genocide museum, otherwise you won't understand all that you are viewing and the stories behind it. It is a humbling tour to do and difficult at times to hear the stories and see what happened but it's important to experience. I highly recommend Viator. I only hope that all of the guides are as helpful and knowledgeable as my guide was, he went by Chen. Thank you for a great tour and helping me understand this difficult part of Cambodian history.
A very interesting tour, the young lady guide was very good and very knowledgable and gave me an excellent insight to the atrocities the ocurred.
Tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. A must see if you want to truly understand the struggles of the Khmer people.
The tour guide was knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting by relating his personal stories. He took time to answer all my questions and allowed enough time for photos if we wanted to take them. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in this sad and unfortunate period in Cambodian history.
Very informative tour with excellent local guide, recommended for those who want to learn more about the Khmer Rouge era atrocities and see parts of Phnom Penh which are less accessible
