What You Can Expect

Cancun Combo: Chichen Itza Tour plus Isla Mujeres Dolphin Encounter or Catamaran Sail with Snorkeling

Swim with dolphins in Cancun!

Your guide will pick you up from your Cancun hotel and transport you to Chichen Itza for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, sail you to Isla Mujeres via catamaran or deliver you to your Dolphin Encounter – depending on which option and schedule you select. Combine your Chichen Itza tour with either option, skipping a day or two in between, or spreading out the fun over two consecutive days – it’s completely up to you!

Chichen Itza Tour
See all the highlights at one of the new Seven Wonders of the World on your 2-hour guided tour of Chichen Itza. As you walk around the grounds, listen to your knowledgeable guide describe the cultural significance of the magnificent structures built by the ancient Maya. Marvel at the Pyramid of Kukulcán, Temple of the Warriors (or 1,000 Columns) and the Great Ball Court – the largest in Mesoamerica.

You’ll visit El Castillo (The Castle), the large central pyramid, as well as the Observatory, La Iglesia and the Nunnery before your guide sets you loose to explore the picturesque site on your own – including some of the smaller but well- preserved temples. You'll also explore the sacred Xtoloc Cenote before walking back to the Mayaland Resort for a delicious buffet-style lunch featuring Yucatecan cuisine. Here, enjoy the swimming pools, lounge chairs, botanical gardens.

Option 1: Chichen Itza with Dolphin Encounter
Your family-friendly Dolphin Encounter is designed for all ages – including those not comfortable swimming – allowing you to interact with a dolphin while standing in waist-deep water on a shallow platform. After a 15-minute safety briefing by a professional trainer, you’ll spend 40 minutes in the water with an amiable dolphin. Watch this wonderful marine mammal perform tricks, play games and even ‘sing’ before offering you a handshake, a hug and a kiss!

After your encounter, enjoy the beach club (including lockers, showers, swimming pool and lounge chairs), located in a natural environment of beautiful Isla Mujeres. A lunch with non-alcoholic beverage is included.

Option 2: Chichen Itza with Dolphin Adventure Swim
If you would like a more adventurous encounter, this is the option for you. After a 15-minute safety briefing by a professional trainer, you'll spend 50 minutes in the water with an amiable dolphin. Watch this wonderful marine mammal perform tricks, play games and even ‘sing’ before offering you a handshake, a hug and a kiss. You will finish off this experience with a 'Boogie Push' and a 'Belly Ride.' First, the dolphin will push you across the water as you ride on a boogie board. Then, be ready for a thrill as you swim backwards in the water while holding on to the dolphin's fins!

After your swim, enjoy the beach club (including lockers, showers, swimming pool and lounge chairs), located in a natural environment of beautiful Isla Mujeres. A lunch with non-alcoholic beverage is included.

Option 3: Chichen Itza with Catamaran Sail and Snorkel
Set sail by catamaran to Isla Mujeres, a lovely island and town located just 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Cancun. Enjoy a full-day in the sun and sea breeze as you cruise over the gorgeous Caribbean toward your destination, relaxing as you enjoy unlimited drinks from the open bar on board. Along the way, your friendly crew will raise the spinnaker at the bow; watch as the colorful sail fills like a balloon, allowing your boat to glide along in the wind.

Next, stop at a coral reef where you’ll have the option to snorkel. Put on a life vest and complimentary snorkel gear – including a new souvenir snorkel tube – and enjoy 45 minutes exploring marine life in the warm, tropical water. Your time includes instruction and supervision by a certified snorkel guide.

Upon arrival at Isla Mujeres, your guide will accompany your group on a 1.5-hour shopping excursion downtown. Afterward, head to the beach club for a buffet lunch, more selections from the open bar, and access to all the amenities – including swimming pool and lounge chairs.

Chichen -Love it, really learned a lot and the people are really friendly. The dophin excursion - thought we were going to be just me and my friends but whatever. But the prices for the photos way to much and hard to understand what he meant.

We did the Chichen Itza tour and Catamaran combo.
Chichen Itza- got off to a rocky start when we were asked by the transportation company to meet to be picked up at an alternate hotel than our own. We walked over and we were prompt, but the van mistakenlywent to our original hotel and was subsequently 40 minutes late to pick us up. Once this morning debacle was over, we get to Chichen Itza. They boast a cenote, which you do not get to swim in. You overlook it from above while you are eaten alive by mosquitos. The ruins are amazing and live up to expectations. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. The food was great! I recommend the pork tacos with homemade freshly made tortillas with tomatillo sauce and onion, coupled with rice and beans. Also, the dessert selection had an amazing coconut pudding as well as traditional mexican desserts that are amazing. We cooled off in the hotel pool afterwards.
Catamaran sailing- we signed up for this combo because it's the only one with transportation provided. When you get there, they peddle this placebo like sunscreen which they claim is eco-friendly and biodegradable...it costs 20. The few people who bought into this burned severely hello skin cancer. I stuck with my coppertone and did not burn. They provide an open bar which is nice. There is no parasailing. You instead ride on a spinnaker which if you have enough wind, can project you about 20 feet into the air for about 30 seconds. The water was clear and breathtakingly gorgeous!!!! However, the water is too choppy to bring young children for the snorkeling component my son is 7 and we had a tough time. There was a disappointing lack of sealife diversity in the area we snorkeled. The meal provided was again very good and Isla Mujers had the clearest/cleanest beach out of both Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Again, the tour company was prompt in picking us up which was a pleasant surprise. Overall recommend this.

Chitzen itza is awesome to see! However this tour required a 2.5 hour bus trip from Cancun each way. The catamaran sail (on a different day) was relaxing and included drinks. The buffet on the island was very average but the service and guidance by the kitchen and boat were excellent!
