Chichen Itza Small-Group Tour with Private Entrance

Ball Court at Chichen Itza

Your small-group tour begins with hotel pickup in a luxurious Mercedes Benz, relaxing in one of its plush reclining seats. Travel directly to Chichen Itza, without stopovers along the way. When you arrive at Mayaland Resort, uniquely situated within the archeological park of Chichen Itza, meet your guide to begin your day of exploration.

Follow your knowledgeable guide through Mayaland’s private entrance and get an introduction to the pre-Columbian Mayan way of life as you step foot inside Chichen Itza, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

During your 2-hour tour of this ancient city, listen as your guide explains the archaeological, historical and cultural significance of its most important temples to your group. Learn about the central area of the classic period and the northern section from the Toltec period.

Stop to admire the Pyramid of Kukulcán, and see the Temple of the Warriors as well as the ball court, observatory and nunnery. When your guide leaves you to experience Chichen Itza at your own pace, make sure to visit the well-preserved smaller temples in the vicinity.

Once you’ve taken your share of pictures, you’re free to use the pools and other facilities at Mayaland Resort, a multiple Condé Nast Traveler magazine winner and considered a National Geographic favorite since 1936. After a lunch buffet that includes a wide selection of international, Mexican and Yucatecan dishes, head back to revisit the temples or simply relax at the resort amid the beautiful and scenic surroundings.

Lay back in a lounge chair or dive into a swimming pool, stroll through the 100-acre tropical botanical gardens brimming with native plants or visit the sacred Xtoloc Cenote, located on the resort grounds (no swimming permitted).

Be Maya Planetarium upgrade option:
Before returning to your hotel in the late evening, stop by Be Maya Planetarium, where you'll listen to stories of the ancient Maya civilization and tales of the Maya skies. This was an easy tour even from our hotel south of Playa del Carmen. Transportation was arranged when I confirmed pick-up with a quick call to Mayaland. Our driver Roberto was a good driver in a large, comfortable van that even showed a movie on the 2-hour trip back. No movie was needed on the way there as Mauricio our tour guide kept the tour lively and educational with the right amount of history, humor, and bathroom breaks with no high pressure vendors at the stops. Mauricio is a well studied Mayan and brought this tour to life for us. We learned a lot, walked a lot, and had good food at the Mayaland restaurant. We definitely recommend Viator and especially this small-group tour with Mauricio. Thanks, Viator!

We visited Cancun for our honeymoon and my partner list Chichen Itza as a must see place. We participated in the small group day tour and enjoyed it thoroughly.
The ruins are pretty well preserved and It was an eye opening experience how all those wonderful architectural structures were built centuries ago and the magnificent scale of each of them.
Our tour guide Faustino did an excellent job in explaining the history and the cultural aspect, and demonstrating the acoustic aspect of some of the ruins. The our also include a lunch buffet at the Mayaland Resort which has good food and include the usage of its pool to relax which is nice because it was VERY VERY hot and humid there before the 2 hours trip back to Cancun.
One annoying fact besides the HUGE swath of tourists are the vendors that would just approach you pitching the items and some of them have those wild-animal-sound-making thing that they are trying to sell and they constantly demonstrating it, which is super annoying....

Fun place to visit and relive the old historical times. A well spoken and knowledgeable guide is a must because there a lot going on in here than what meets the eye. Go on a day when the weather is cooler. Take plenty of water. Excellent historical site.
